Customer Reviews
More useful than I expected!
Summary: A good initial read and an excellent companion for managing your own health and emotions
Reviewer: A reader from Redhill, Surrey.
I first saw this book some years ago, when my health was not as robust as it had been, and I had a sense that perhaps I needed to look at my emotions, rather than just physical symptoms.
In style, the book is a little 'new age' but still very practical. In content, it works well, first giving an outline of the beliefs behind the book, then the general principles and then the specific issues relating emotions to specific parts of the body.
Even if you dont like new age approaches to health, this book is a useful prompt. It deals with most illnesses and symptoms that come up in day to day life (colds, backache, stomach upset, overweight) and gently offers suggestions as to the emotional states that might trigger such an illness or condition.
My own view is that, if you are interested in looking after your own emotional and physical health, this is a useful book. It doesnt preach or offer miracles, it just poses useful suggestions that you can use as you see fit.
A Very Useful Book
I have had this book for a number of years now and have found it very useful. At times when I was ill and the doctors couldn't find out what my problem was I would read the relevant information and most of the time it correlated with the feelings I had inside, often feelings I did not want to admit to. I have also used it many times for friends, family and clients. I do believe and have experienced that all illness is caused by some underlying emotional state and the author explains these various states very well. As with everything in life you do not have to take the information within the book as gospel but it will help you to understand more about the underlying causes of physical illness. This book is easy to read and will be useful for anyone who is looking for answers in respect to physical problems or illnesses as well as for people in or entering into the field of complementary healing.
excellent mind/body/spirit reference
If you are open to the notion that illness often has its roots in the mind/body/spirit connection, then you'll love this book. If you are used to treating the symptoms of your illnesses from a more traditional allopathic viewpoint, then you'll probably find it challenging or take the view expressed by the previous reader. Personally, I find it comprehensive and well presented and will use it to support my nutritional training, but I'm not about to try and convince a cynic!
