Editorial Reviews

Synopsis
This textbook sets out the legal, institutional, national and international contexts within which organisations operate today. It also provides a sound understanding of employee development, relations, resourcing and reward and how these are integrated into wider corporate strategies. The book examines: predicting future staffing requirements and establishing a human resource plan; carrying out the whole recruitment and selection process; developing an appropriate training policy and gaining support for its implementation; handling grievance and disciplinary procedures; and harmonizing reward systems. In this annotated edition, the text has been updated by Dr Malcolm Sargeant who has highlighted areas undergoing legal change.

Customer Reviews

A comprehensive and readable account of most aspects of HR5
This is a comprehensive book written in an approachable and interesting way. All the main aspects of HR are covered from recruitment to redundancy. Having recently completed an MSc in HR I found this a useful starting point and my copy continues to be used and consulted on a regular basis. There are many HR books on the market, this is one of the best and most authoritative.

Core Personnel and Development5
An excellent text that covers all of the vital issues of human resource management. Very easy to read but without losing vital impact and providing the reader/student with more than sufficient knowledge of the subject at a high level. Also beneficial for aspiring/practising managers to gain knowledge, skill and ideas in the subject and indeed for employees that wish to study into this vital function of their organisation. Excellent.
