Manufacturer's Description
Six highly detailed train routes from around the world with over 600 total miles of rail, carefully recreated with accurate elevation and terrain data, to mirror the real-world scenery, industry, and towns along the routes. Routes include both historic and contemporary rail operations.
The most realistic experience of rail equipment ever brought to the PC - placing you in the cab of each detailed locomotive, with accurate, fully-functional gauges and working controls that you manipulate. Whether it's working the regulator on a steam engine or the air brake system on a modern diesel, you are in control.
Authentic train and route sound recordings of the actual equipment and locations. Players can choose from a variety of challenges, such as keeping to a strict passenger timetable amidst unforeseen obstacles, or using helper engines to get a 50-car intermodal train over Marias Pass during a winter storm. Alternatively, you can enjoy any of the routes from a passenger or observer view - just sit back, let the computer control the realistic rail operations, and enjoy the sight and sounds of your journey.

Memorys
I have just purchased this simulation and am well pleased, as a retired railwayman of 32 years service it brings back a lot of memorys to me my favorite is the Selby Carlisle route all in all a perfect way to start on PC Simulations.
A small boy's dream come true!
Bought this as a stocking filler for my 4 year old son and it's by far the most popular present of the festive season, despite one of his other gifts being a proper trainset. As you may have gathered, this particular 4 year old boy is somewhat train obsessed. I would highly recommend MS Train Simulator for other train obsessed boys, regardless of age - his dad's quite keen too! There's a good range of activities, routes and locos to choose from, the graphics and sound are pretty good, particularly for the 6.99 price tag. One word of warning, if buying for a young child, unless they're a complete computer whiz, it's unlikely they'll be able to use this without a significant amount of adult help, but once you've got your loco up and running they can potentially sit back and enjoy the ride.
The original and the best
I bought the game when it first came out for about £40 and love it. There are so many add ons available, most of which can be downloaded for free from the internet. The add ons are not always the easiest to get to work if you download them as many require files to be copied, but most are well worth the trouble as they mean you will never tire of the program. My great grandad was a train driver and I was able to download his train to drive. With so many different trains, tracks, and activities available, this game will be immortal.
