too big
Ok so I did not quite know what to expect size wise when I ordered this . But I did not expect it to be soo big I got this to improve the volume on my i pod and its nearly as big and heavier its not functional to carry round with your i pod but it does do what it says its going to do it increases the volume of my i pod significantly. if you want something a little more discreet then this is not for you.
It works.
I don't have much use for the two additional headphone sockets here, but they work very well, and you don't get any switching noise or dipping when you insert or remove a jack from them. The added gain, and a nice clean signal, are there when the thing is turned on, it does seem to extend battery life, and I even detected an improvement in sound quality, although that might be subjective.
The size and shape of the Boostaroo are, to be honest, a bit of a problem, since it will not fit comfortably in a shirt pocket, and the captive cable is too short to reach to another pocket. Don't even bother partnering this with a fancy mp3 player on the move, because it looks very clumsy. Nevertheless, plug it in at home and your ears will be very happy with you.
Boostaroo
I rip my CDs on to my Creative Zen Touch MP3 player. My CDs are all classical and I sometimes have problems with low volume in the output, especially when driving my Bose noise-cacelling headphones (I use these and normal in-ear bud phones). I decided that what I needed was an in-line amplifier, but had no idea if such things existed. Finding the Boostaroo on Amazon seemed to offer the ideal solution.
It arrived, I put two AA batteries in to it and switched it on: instant success! It boosts the output of my Creative, and also my laptop to comfortable levels, with faithful reproduction of the original sound.
In the case of one Bach cantata it has transformed the listening experience.
The device is about the size of a tube of wine gums and with the batteries in has a very solid feel.
Can't report on battery life yet, but so far I am very pleased with this product. It does exactly what it says on the spec!
