The structure of the MRCPsych examination has changed significantly. This book is specifically written for the new exam, providing 250 practice best-of-five multiple choice questions (MCQs) and 100 extended matching item (EMI) questions for Paper II. It contains clear, concise answers to questions, along with explanatory notes and further reading for each topic. It gives practical advice on the format and content of the examination and techniques for answering questions. It is comprehensive and authoritative: both authors are members of the Psychiatric Trainees' Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. ST2 Trainee Review
The questions were much harder then what was in the actual exam. They based most of them on Puri and Hall's Revision Notes in Psychiatry which made them very difficult to answer unless you had obviously read that book. The book is a little out of date now and most people I know now rely on a combination of Birmingham, Manchester and SPMM revision notes which I relied upon for Paper I and II.
As a result I found answering any of the questions in this book very difficult since they emphasise different topics and key points.
To be honest any questions are good, whether they are difficult or easy and they get you into the habit of reading things properly because this book had a way of catching you out if you did not!
However, that said this book did not really help me answer any questions in the real exam.
unrealistic
its question bank is difficult , deficient in explaining the answers , but good as a mental exercise before the exam
