A good place to start.5
This DVD was originally part of a three-part series from the early 1990's: "The Swing", "The Short Game" and "Taking it to the Course". In the series Leadbetter took a student (the amazingly uncharismatic and submissive Bill) through the fundamentals of golf.

While this DVD is probably not that useful to an experienced player, it is useful to beginners or anyone who struggles to groove a consistent, repeatable swing. Leadbetter starts at the beginning taking the student through a number of lessons that build the swing in stages.

The aim of the DVD is to get you swinging consistently on plane with full shots. The focus is mainly on irons, but Leadbetter is an exponent of the "One swing for all clubs" ideal, but he does touch on using the driver and woods. Also, the DVD does not cover shot-making from different lies (this is covered in "Taking it to the course").

The presentation of the DVD (music, graphics and transitions) does have a "Corporate Video" feel to it, but the instruction itself doesn't feel dated at all. All the lessons are still relevant, and if you follow the instruction and drills, you should show some improvement.

Leadbetter is probably the best producer of golf instruction media and while there are other DVDs worth a look, you won't go far wrong with Leadbetter.

so so!3
I got this DVD, knowing that Leadbetter worked with many tour pros and arguably improved their swings. However, his instructions on thís DVD were on a beginner level which I thought was lacking dept. Some basic exercises were useful but again lacked swing thoughts. And on a personal note, he should definetely get himself a new hat.
