A compatent, complete and entertaining guide5
I found this book and its partner book Offa's dyke north to be the ideal guide along this delightful long distance foot path. The 1:25000 scale maps are clear and easy to use, you will need no other maps. Like the other National Trial Guides, the walk is divided in to daily sections which make travel and accomodation arrangement very easy to organise in advance. The information on the history and geology realy added to the experience of walking the dyke. I was also impressed by the design of the book itself, being rugged with rounded corner and a water resisitant cover. Perfect for storing in a handy rucksack or jacket pocket. These two books are the definative guides to walking Offas dyke

Slim Down3
With three authors it is perhaps inevitable that this book finished up more padded out than need be. From the point of view of the walker it should be thinned out by dropping all the photographs, it could also be physically down-sized to make it more pocket friendly by reducing the height by about an inch. An overall map on the back cover would also be helpful.
