Customer Reviews

Good product but beware!!4
Bought this to work with my Epson CX3200.

Wasted lots of time trying to get it to connect and eventually Belkin support advised that the server does not work with that printer - or many others....why couldn't they tell me that on my first contact - or heaven forbid before I bought the print server?

I have now bought a different printer and the server installed quickly and works excellently. I just wasn't expecting to have to buy a new printer in order to use it.

The list of compatibilities is at http://www.belkin.com/support/printserver/list.asp

Works fine, but setup difficult3
The actual print server works very well with good reception throughout the house. However the Wizard supplied with the product did not work at all- did not find the print server. The instructions on what to do when the wizard fails to work was less than helpful. So in the end I switched the server on and let it find my router (staus light stops flashing). Then I used by web interface for my router to find out the ip address of the print server. This meant I could access the print server to set it up. (don't forget to diable WEP if its on so the print server can connect). When I had done this I manually added the port in windows using a TCP/IP port. (right click on the printer select "properties-ports-add port" then follow instructions) Make sure taht you enable "LPR" on the port. I would have given a higher rating if the setup wizard had worked. BE WARNED- be sure your printer is on the list supplied on the Belkin website.

Easy to setup once the correct wizard has been downloaded5
After first attaching the print server to my computer by the wired network and printing out the config page by using the button on the back of the print server to find its IP address the configuration was easy to alter and the WEP security worked fine. However when I attempted to setup the print server to print via windows the supplied utility did not work with windows XP. I visited Belkins website and found a Windows XP utility program to download. This work well apart from the printer has already to be installed on each of the machines before running to utility in order for it to locate the driver files for the printer. To get around this in windows simply install a generic printer port such as LTP1 to the printer you're using but it doesn't need to be connected, this will install the drivers for the printer so when you run the utility it will have drivers to use. The utility will install a special port to your computer called belkinport; in advanced settings on this port you can manually change settings such as the IP address of the print server if it changes. Overall as long as you download the new utility for your particular operating system from belkins website and either have already installed drivers on each of the computers or before running the utility install the drivers you won't have a problem.
