Customer Reviews
Excellent little product for Linux and XP
Worked out the box with Linux (Kubuntu, Hardy Heron) with no additional drivers needed. Worked out the box with Windows XP SP2 once the drivers were installed. Very low profile, though don't let the picture fool you - all the silver plug is not hidden, about 7mm in total sticks out. Range and speed are equal to the "full size" adapter I also have.
Works well, but not perfect.
Works well on Vista 32-bit, no driver installation required, just plug it in and it is detected as a Generic Bluetooth Radio, no need for the CD. Pairs with my Windows mobile 6 phone no problems. I have a Lenovo x60 tablet, which has recessed ports, but it still protrudes from the case about 4mm. Only major issue is that if Vista is in sleep, the blue light flahes continously (as it does all the time when it is plugged in even when not being used), so will presumably use some battery power up.
Works well with Linpus (Acer Aspire One) after applying some technicals,
This BlueNext dongle uses a CSR chipset which on paper makes it a good candidate for use on Linux. Amazon lists it as appropriate for use with the Acer Aspire One netbook though if you have the Linpus linux version as I have then it will take a little technical jiggery pokery to upgrade linpus adequately including adding the Bluez update from the official Acer support site and with help from some detailed instructions by linker3000 on the aspireone dot com user forums (root access and heavy use of the Terminal required). If you feel confident and patient enough to do the technical legwork (10-15 mins work max)then this USB dongle will work very well indeed.Mini CD supplied is for Windows only.
