Editorial Reviews
From the Publisher
Please note that this amazing book is suitable for both the
web-designing fraternity and those with no computing skills whatsoever. If
you are new to the Internet world, you might like to skip some of the
technical detail in this handbook and focus more on the material relating
to marketing and attracting visitors to your site. If, on the other hand,
you are already familiar with the aesthetics side of web-design, you should
read every word of this book to learn more about the business side and
watch your or your clients' websites grow in popularity.

Customer Reviews
Does what it says on the tin
I bought this book after finding an article about it on a site called interwoveness.com.This review was written by someone who understands website promotion, so I don't agree with the comments below from N.J .Pendell. Sure, if you are an expert there may be nothing to add to your repertoire but for everyone else, including those who know quite a bit or next to nothing, this is a very useful book and so easy and pleasurable to read.
I also don't agree that "it is more 2004 than 2007" and is "a little out of date". I have checked through every reference site in the book and they're all still going. The books says Google is king and at this moment in late 2007 that fact is still very true.
Another good sign is that i checked up on all the testimonials at the front of the book, and those guys really are on the 1st page of Google searches. Ok, many of them have websites in businesses which are not fiercely competitive and so easier to optimise...but that's not the book's fault. But maybe the writer, who is a guitarist, should have pointed out that it will take a lot longer than a month for the search engines to push up your site, if you are in a highly popular field. For this reason only, I have given the book 4 and not 5 stars. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a good website which few people get to see.
Exactly what is says in the title!
The book is very accessible - i could read it and understand lots in a short time. It opened my eyes somewhat as I had no idea before just how important optimisation was - I had just focused on the design side. I have incorporated many ideas into my own website and it has helped me alot as I bring it in-line with web 2.0.
It has helped me get my exposure up really well so i'd recommend this to anyone currently with a website or looking to start one. There are some promotion gems for everyone here in this respect.
Fantastic book!
This is an excellent book!
It is clear, practical and authoritative.
The author's experience and ability in marketing and designing web sites successfully become instantly obvious.
Thanks a lot; it will spare me numerous mistakes and years of hard work!
