Perfect
If you are thinking of buying the CANON EOS 400 or 350, I recommend you get the body only option and then buy this lens.
It costs a third of the top of the range 50 mm lenses and produces the almost identical results.
It works very well with low light conditions and produces sharp pictures.
This is a fixed focal length lens ideal for indoor portraits (not for group photography indoors) and landscape photography
The white balance is excellent and It weights 132 grams only

A little gem
This little lens represents easily the best 'bang for your buck' of any I have ever seen. Sure the build is a bit cheap and plasticky but that helps it in that's it's incredibly light. For those that don't wish to lug large amounts of equipment around or don't want to invest large sums in more expensive pro lenses this is an absolute must have. If you're coming from only a kit lens the image quality will blow you away and the creative possibilities with a lens this fast (low light and narrow depth of field) open up whole new avenues of photography simply not possible with the kit lens.

In short, if you're currently "making do" with a basic kit lens you'd be mad not to buy this lens.

Quality Canon lens
I bought this lens to replace the lens supplied with my brand new Canon EOS 400D camera kit. I use this lens as my standard one and have just put the supplied lens kit away in my camera bag( as an emergency replacement only).
Lens is very light and is very good quality built. Takes excellent pics and is value for money.I have recenly took some close up shots on holiday and the quality was fab. I paid £66 in June 2008. The best price i could find around at the time (believe me i did a lot of research on the internet and my Digital Photo mag.)

As a standard Canon lens you can't go far wrong!
