Perfect work-horse!
The Satellite Pro L40-17G by Toshiba is powered by an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2330 processor and runs on Genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition operating system which is easily upgraded to Home Premium.

Unlike many other "cheap" laptops, which are cheap due to the fact that they use the Intel Celeron processor, the L40 can multi-task with the best of them.

I have installed 1xServer 2008 instance and 3x Server 2003 instances on a virtual machine and it still handles very well.
As a lab machine, it is perfect.

The Pro L40-17G has 1GB DDR2 RAM and an 80GB hard drive which can handle all your important computing needs such as music, photos, games, videos, documents and presentations.

The graphics are powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator chipset (Intel GMA X3100) which sports 256Mb of graphics memory, supports Pixel Shader 2.0, OpenGL 1.4 and better and DirectX 9.0C for all you gamers out there.

The sound card handles very well and is pretty loud for a laptop, perfect for easy listening and even better on decent headphones.

The L40 really starts to shine when you watch a movie, be it an AVI or DVD! The graphics are superb and the refresh rate is great giving seamless video play and with the 24-bit stereo sound, a very good movie watching experience is to be had by all.

The wireless experience is overall very good with a very strong signal, compared with other laptops that I have tested. World-Wide-Web surfing is very appealing and I had no complaints there.

All-in-all, if you're loking for an unpretentious laptop that can handle most jobs, this is it. If you're looking for a gaming laptop, or are twinned with the likes of the NSA, are heavy into cryptography and code-breaking, keep looking and add, maybe, one nought to the price.
