Customer Reviews

a challenging read5
This book sets out an alternative view of women and the female body to the one traditionaly held in the Church. Ali Green explores women's priesthood and its impact on the Church in an innovative and thought-provoking way.
She focuses on the shift in symbolic meanings brought about by the woman presiding at the Eucharist and considers the status - actual and perceived - of women in the Church and society through the history of Christianity. Her anecdotes about her own and others' personal experiences help to bring her arguments to life.
I recommend this book as a read that is often uncomfortable and challenging but is also rewarding - it helped me, as a man, to see women and culture in a new light.
I hope it will move the position of ordained women forward in the Church today.
