A cleverly constructed, spiritually challenging, deep and complex novel. Urban Angel centres on Alex Masters, a young Christian woman with a destiny. She is passionate about reaching young people for Jesus - the heart of her vision being 'to build a Christ-centred culture' which would affect every part of the culture. Alex works for SLaM, an entertainment conglomerate with interests in the pop industry, publishing and fashion. But SLaM takes on a project called SEEKA which is designed to influence and change youth culture in a very negative way, through drugs etc. The book shows, in a very subtle way, the two forces at work to influence the culture - satanic (the force behind SEEKA) and Divine (Alex's 'destiny'). The author takes us behind the scenes, so to speak, and we see the role of angels and demons in the plot. Full of intriguing sub-plots with assassins and shadowy figures at work on behalf of 'the enemy' to corrupt young people.

Christianity
"This is an intriguing novel...the characters are refreshingly believable."
From the Author
This is a book about real life. About real spiritual life in a city with busyness and noise, money and power, and the abrasive clash of the Kingdoms of darkness and light.
I have tried to keep the theology scriptural; I can see no other way to produce something that can be called "Christian Fiction". This is a story informed by a Christian worldview, but it is the story of men and women who are brave and fragile. They hurt sometimes, and they triumph sometimes, and they are subject to the pressures and temptations that bedevil us all. There are tears and anguish, and a grappling with the complex issues around us. I see no point in writing about an unreal religious world of cardboard characters and easy conversions.
My hope is that my book sell, but more importantly, my prayer is that those who read it will be blessed, and the Lord will be glorified, and the Kingdom will come.
From the Inside Flap
The church is not dead, and neither is the Saviour whose name she bares. In one small corner of the world part of the strategy is about to unfold.
For Alex Masters, the long journey to faith is over. Despite the pain and sorrow, she chooses to believe; and now the signs of her destiny are there for those who will see them. Alex believes that she is alone, but she is not and never will be, even in the darkest most desperate moments he will be there.
For Daisy there is no faith. Daisy is a child of the MP3 generation, of every belief and none. She has parents but she is an orphan. Like her cousin, Daisy is never ever alone, but the company she keeps may destroy her.
They come together, believer and unbeliever; finding themselves opposed by an enemy that hides itself, seeking to influence and coerce, and if necessary kill. On their own they would be defenseless.
But the Kingdom is coming.

Like Frank Peretti? You'll love this...!
Well, I loved this book. I am a great fan of the US author Frank Peretti's novels, featuring spiritual warfare, mixed in with dynamic storylines. Here is a UK version, that is less 'American' (obviously) but equally as dynamic.
The issues involved will be familiar to all young adults: relationships, family, drugs, sex, work, eating disorders, etc. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just for teens though - the main character is 25 and single, but there are plenty of 'adult' themes too, such as the married guy in her church that fancies her. I think anyone who enjoys a good novel will enjoy this one, but especially those who are willing to have their eyes opened to the 'reality' that is all around us, however unseen.
This novel refreshed in me the urge to pray more, and helped me to be more aware of this 'reality'. At the same time, I found it a real page-turner.... so go buy it now now now!!!
Great book for believers!!
This is a great book for practicing Christians to read because it deals with the many issues 21st century believers face in an interesting and exciting way. Do you struggle resisting sexual temptation? Is sharing your faith a chore? How do we make Jesus relevant to young people? This book will give answers to these questions as well as personal enjoyment. Recommended for all believers!!
