A 14-man tournament to crown a Savage Champion5
Wrestlemania emanated from Atlantic City,New Jersey on March 27, 1988.

The event lasts 4 hours. The main attraction is the 14-man tournament to crown a new WWF Champion (the title was declared vacant when WWF President Jack Tunney stripped André the Giant of the belt after André attempted to deliver it to Ted Dibiase). Participants include : Hulk Hogan, André, Randy Savage, Ted Dibiase, Butch Reed, Ricky Steamboat, Rick Rude, Jake Roberts, The Rock Don Muraco...

Besides, the show also includes an Intercontinental match when the longest reigning IC Champ of all time Honky Tonk Man defends the gold against Brutus Beefcake. The Tag Team straps are up for grabs when Strike Force takes on Demolition. WM IV starts with a 20-man over the top rope battle royale that includes Bret Hart, Ray Rougeau, Georges Steele, JYD, Bad news Brown ...

Wrestlemania IV is one the best Wrestlemania of all time, and is of major interest with the always popular tournament-type kind of event, the crowning of a new champion, a battle royale, the PPV debut of the Ultimate Warrior, the tag team and IC belts up for grabs and the only WWF to date to last 4 hours.

A milestone in WWF history5
The video which is split on to two tapes is four hours short. the main focus of the video is to crown a new WWF champion after the belt became vacant for the 1st time in it's history. the video kicks off with adecent battle royal to determine the winner of some worthless trophy and more importantly move a wrestler into contention for a WWF title shot. it's good but inferior to the entertaining one at WM2. The 16 man tournament starts with the fresh - faced ted dibiase taken on the washed up hacksaw jim duggan in a poor bout. rick steamboat and greg valentine have a dissapointing encounter and the one man gang and 1987's rookie of the year bam bam bigalow bounce about in a worthless affair. the late rick rude and everyones favourate smack head jake roberts have one of the most boring matches in WM history. step up randy savage who saves the tournament with a steller performance as he carries losers like butch reed and one man gang to levels they've never reached before. the IC match featuring honky tonk man and brutus beefcake is half decent whilst Demolition and strike force knock up the match of the night in a great bout.

crowd favourate and then hollywoods fastest rising star hulk hogan and andre hit rock bottom in a mess and hercules and ultimate warrior try to kill each other in a hard hitting match up.

the tournament final makes sure the card ends on a high note giving the crowd what they want - someone new as champion.

although the wrestling could be better there is a decent storyline throughout - brilliant comentating fromjesse ventura and a decent six man tag featuring the brilliant bobby heenen - worth the cash.

Two types, twice as good4
This event was a mamoth four hours long, even after being edited for home video release. It was the only WWF PAL tape that was released on 2 tapes as part of a box set. It featuered a tournament for the WWF World Heavyweight Title (all tourney matches are in Red). The other matchees weren't bad either, the 'Mania started off with a good battle royal which was a good gimmick opener. This Wrestlemania is fairly good, not as good as it's predecessor, but much better than the first two. This video is now avaliable on DVD as a Tagged Classics, and part of the Wrestlemania DVD Boxset.
