Customer Reviews
TOTALLY FANTASTICALLY SPLENDILLY MADE WRESTLEMANIA
THE FOUR TEAM TAG ELIMATION MATCH WAS THE WORST MATCH OF THE EVENING BUT WAS STILL PRETTY GOOD
THEINTERCONINENTIAL TITLE MATCH WAS FARELY GOOD IT FEATURED THE ROCK VS THE SULTAN(RIKISHI) WITH THE HONKY TONK MAN AS THE GUEST COMMENTATOR
THE TAG TEAM TITLEMATCH WAS FAST PACED AND ONE OF THE MOST BRILLANT MATCH IVE EVER SEEN.FEATURING BULLDOG,OWEN HART VS VADER AND MANKIND
NEXT CAME GOLDUST VS HHH WHICH SAW CHYNA ASSAULT TERRI WHICH BROUGHT OUT ANOTHER SANCITIVE SIDE TO GOLDUST.
THEN THE FIRST MAIN EVENT SAW BRET HART VS STONE COLD IN A SUBMISSION GRUDGE MATCH WITH KEN SHAMROCK AS GUEST REFEREE.
NEXT CAME THE STREET FIGHT BETWEEN THE NATION AND THE ROAD WARRIORS. IT WAS A REAL HARDCORE MATCH.
THE LAST MATCH WAS FOR THE WWF CHAMPIONSHIP IN WHICH SHAWN MICHAELS WAS DOING COLOUR COMMENTARY. THE MATCH WAS DELAYED BY A WINING BRET HART WHO SHUT UP BY THE UNDERTAKER AND SID.THE MATCH THEN BEGAN AND SAW A FANTASTIC TITLE BOUT WHEN SID DONE A TOMBSTONE ON THE UNDERTAKER.
A MUST HAVE FOR EVERY WRESTLING FAN!!!!!!!
TWO STREET FIGHTS FOR THE PRICE OF ONE
Wrestlemania 13 was significant for many reasons. After almost a year of falling ratings and contractual wranglings, the WWF finally returned to live TV in the UK. The endless parade of celebrity guests and vaudevillesque cabaret, that cluttered previous Wrestlemanias, is discarded in favour of a more adult orientated, action focussed spectacular. Most significantly of all, we witnessed the most groundbreaking match that the industry has seen. Whilst they may not have fully realised it at the time, Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin were heralding the dawning of the 'hardcore' era, an epic battle of amazing intensity, which went from the ring, to the arena floor and on into the crowd, before finally concluding in a crimson tide of rattlesnake blood, with Ken Shamrock (making his WWF debut as guest referee) still screaming 'Steve, do you give up!'. Perhaps the most lasting image will be the one of Bret, the long time hero and role model being roundly booed from the arena, whilst Austin, the industry's personification of the bad guy up until this point, was given a rupturous ovation by the Chicago crowd. The card does also contain other top matches, most notably Owen Hart & The British Bulldog vs. Mankind and Vader for the tag titles. The six man 'street fight', Ahmed Johnson and L.O.D vs. The Nation of Domination and the WWF championship match between Sid and The Undertaker are good matches, but there is just no way anything could have followed the 'Hitman' and 'Stone Cold', well worth the five star rating and the price of the vid on its own.
WRESTLEMANIA 13!!!
WWF Wrestlemania 13 took place in Chicago,Illonois on March 23rd 1997 and was a great event featuring a submission match that was considered one of the most memorable Wrestlemania matches of all time. Here are the matches:
1)4 TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH:
Godwinns VS New Blackjacks VS Headbangers VS Furnas & LaFon.
(A solid match but not Wrestlemania material in my opinion)**
2)IC TITLE:
Rocky Maivia(c) VS The Sultan.
(This was a pretty good match with some good moves by both men.Good to see The Rock at the start of his WWF career and The Sultan who is now known as Rikishi)***
3)Goldust VS Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
(Another good match which started over Marlena and ends up with, then newcomer Chyna throwing her around like a rag doll.HHH was great here as a snob and looked so much smaller than he does now)***
4)TAG TEAM TITLES:
Owen Hart & British Bulldog(c) VS Mankind & Vader.
(This match was very good with Owen and Bulldog both squabbling over who is the leader of the team.Good in ring work by all four men but the way it ends isn't great)***1/2
5)SUBMISSION MATCH:
Bret Hitman Hart VS Stone Cold Steve Austin.
(This was a great match which saw Austin get badly busted open after landing head first into the steel guard rail. Also this was Bret's last Wrestlemania and Ken Shamrock was making his WWF debut as the guest referee.Brutal bloodbath)*****
6)CHICAGO STREET FIGHT:
Ahmed Johnson & Legion Of Doom VS Faarooq,Crush & Savio Vega.
(A hardcore riot with all the Nation Of Domination involved even those 2 little annoying 'rappers' PG-13.This was a mess and saw Faarooq get pulled off the turnbuckle and land on his shoulder which caused him a seperated shoulder)****
7)WWF CHAMPIONSHIP:
Sycho Sid(c) VS The Undertaker.
(For a Wrestlemania main event this was a little boring but the commentary from Shawn Michaels and the interference of Bret Hart a few times spices it up a bit.Taker was at his best here and had to carry the useless Sid for a good 20 minutes)***1/2
