Austin and Undertaker in the main event (again)!3
Austin and Undertaker's main event WWF Championship match is dissapointing but passable. Kane refuses to team with partner Mankind, leaving him Vince McMahon to persuade the deranged one to defend his and Kane's WWF Tag Team titles against the Outlaws with No Holds Barred on his own. This handi-cap/tag team hardcore match is quite good. X-Pac gives Jeff Jarret a much needed haircut in a hair vs. hair match, which is entertaining. The late Owen Hart has a decent Lion's Den match with Ken Shamrock. Val Venis has his first crack at WWF gold, when he battles D'Lo Brown for the European Championship in another entertaining showdown. But, there's one match that makes this all worth watching; Triple H and The Rock squaring off in an excellent Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match. Although nowhere near as good as Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) and HBK's Ladder Matches from years gone bye, this was a cracking match, definetly the best between Hunter and Rocky that I've seen. It contains loads of interfernce ftom Chyna and Mark Henry, but it's still a great bout. This is a must-see video, for the Ladder Match alone, but it's also packed with other great matches.

IC TITLE LADDER MATCH STEALS THE SHOW5
MADISON SQUARE GARDEN HOSTS SUMMERSLAM 1998 WHICH WAS AN EXELLENT EVENT, BETTER THAN SUMMERSLAM 1999 AND 2000 IN MY MIND,
THERE WAS TAKER VS AUSTIN 4 THE WWF TITLE, NO HOLDS BARRED FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH 4 THE TAG TEAM TITILES CAN MINKIND DEFEND THE TAG TITLES BY HIMSELF WITHOUT KANE? A HAIR VS HAIR MATCH BETWEEN DOUBLE J AND X-PAC, A LIONS DEN MATCH BETWEEN OWEN HART (R.I.P) AND SHAMROCK, MIXED TAG MATCH, A VERY FUNNY MATCH BETWEEN THE ODITIES AND KIA AN TIA, AND THE MATCH OF THE NIGHT HHH VS THE ROCK 4 THE INTERCOTINATLE TITLE IN A LADDER MATCH I THINK THIS WAS BETTER THAN SHAWN MICHAELS AND RAZOR RAMONS LADDER MATCH 4 THE IC TITLE AT WRESTLEMANIA 10 AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

A solid WWF P.P.V4
Summerslam 1998 was billed to be one of the best P.P.V's ever and certainly served up a promising card. Yet, after I saw this event I couldn't help but feel a little dissapointed. Many of the early bouts e.g the European title match - D'Lo Brown vs Val Venis were slow and lacked imagination. However there were a few classic moments especially in the 'Hair for Hair' match between X-Pac and Double J! The event definately got better towards the end. In fact the last three matches are the only matches worth watching again. The Tag Title match between the Outlaws and Kane/Mankind became a handicap match when Kane refused to team with Mankind. This was a fairly good match with a great ending. The WWF Title match saw Stone Cold defend his title against the phenom the Undertaker (again). This was ok but with no interferances or special stipulations this quickly became a plain match with a neat end. But the match that makes the video worth watching again is the Ladder match for The Intercontinental title between the Rock and HHH. This is one of the best matches in recent years ( second only to Mankind vs Undertaker 'Hell in a Cell'). There was plenty of outside interferance form Chyna and Mark Henry and has a classic ending. Buy the video if only for this superb match, but be warned the other matches don't come close to this and it is the ladder match that gets this PPV the 4 stars. On the whole this is a PPV that is good but could have been great!
