Great PPV
With the exception of one rather dull match, that being Shane Douglas versus Pitbull #2, the rest of the card was good to excellent. The opener is very entertainig with Perry Saturn even doing some impressive looking highflying!
The six-man tag was long but very entertaining with wrestling that will have you left in amazement and leave your eyes spinning.
The TV title match was next and Douglas versus Pitbull #2 just didnt work even with the grudge match style feel to it due to Douglas having broken Pitbulls #1 neck recently in that era. Look out for Rick Rude making an appearance!
Taz versus Sabu was just awesome wrestling which is the kind of action that will make you wonder why these two arent mixing it up in the WWF right now or why Tazz is a job boy & where the hell is Sabuu right now? (XPW???). A nice twist in the match as well.
Even though everyone was raving on about the semi-main event pitting Funk v Sandman v Richards, I didnt find it as exciting as other people have made it out to be. It was slow paced which made it seem even slower when the viewer had got used to the nights earlier matches. However the solid was good and solid even if Funk did land the dodgiest looking moonsault of ALL TIME & GETTING THE PIN!
The winner of the 3-way dance fought Raven in the main event for the World title.
Overall a great debut PPV. Just remember NOT TO LOOK AT THE BACK OF THE COVER AS THE WRESTLER OF THE 3-WAY DANCE IS GIVEN AWAY!!???!!!
Definately worth buying.
EC-Dub, EC-Dub, EC-Dub
This is ECW's very first PPV from the ECW Area in Philly (USA), and this event shows exactly why ECW Rulz Wrestling today. To kick things off the ECW World Tag Team Titles are on the line as the Champions The Dudley Boyz defend their gold against The Eliminators. This proved to be a solid opening contest with some mind blowing ariel moves performed by The Eliminators. Next up a young Lance Storm takes on "Mr Monday Night" Rob Van Dam. This was also a solid contest that introduced nothing more than a few steel chairs. Next up was a special attraction match from Japan. Six men who compete in "Michinoku Pro Wrestling" based in Japan came to the ECW area to compete against each other in a Six Man Tag Team Match. This match pitted Great Sasuke, Gran Hamada, and Gran Naniwa against the team of Taka Michinoku, Terry Boy, and Dick Togo. Now at first glance this match didn't seem as if it was going to be very good nor last very long, infact this ended up being the longest match of the night and also one of the best. If people hadn't been impressed with Wrestlers from Japan before then they certainly would be impressed after watching this outstanding display by the top performers that Japan have to offer. Next came a battle for the ECW TV Title as the Champion Shane Douglas defended his title against Pitbull #2. This match wasn't great but it still had it's exciting moments. Next was a Grudge Match between "The Human Suplex Machine" Taz and Sabu. This was an outstanding contest between two great Wrestlers. Then came the 3 Way Dance to decide who would face Raven for the World Title. This elimination match pitted Terry Funk against The Sandman against Stevie Richards. Words can't do this match justice it was truly an amazing sight to watch, the punishment taken by these Wrestlers was amazing in itself. This outstanding elimination match was followed by the ECW World Title Match. This match was between the ECW World Champion Raven and Terry Funk (Winner Of The Elimination Match). Overall ECW's very first PPV was outstanding in every way. Pick up this piece of ECW History NOW and you won't be dissapointed.

ECW Barely Legal: THIS IS EXTREME!
Barely Legal 97 was ECW's first pay-per-view event, which proved successful enough to keep the hardcore grapple group going for another four years at least. True, they had help from the WWF in promoting the event, but when they had to deliver, ECW delivered like never before. The end result was one hell of a wrestling show.
The tape is loaded with lots of action-packed matches, the best being Tazz vs Sabu. This is a fine effort from both men. We also get to see a much younger, rookie-like Lance Storm in a stunning match with Rob Van Dam, who is yet to develop his "R-V-D" thumb characteristic and his "Whole F'N Show" moniker. The main event is a crimson-drenched hardcore brawl between then ECW World Champion Raven and Terry Funk. Barbed wire, solid trash cans and tables are all used in an entertaining off-the-rails riot that is the epitome of "Extreme wrestling".
The only minor bad points with the show is the over-long brawl between The Franchise and Pitbull 2, and the fact that The Dudley Boyz get a one-sided pasting from The Eliminators. But over all, this is ECW at it's most extreme and best.
