The Return of The Game4
Wrestling had been in a slump coming in to this royal rumble.
Thr royal rumble is designed to determine the number one contender for the championship and at this time it was fo the undisputed champonship, not like now where their is two belts.
The week previous to this event HHH had just returned from a year long torn quad injury and announced his participation in the rumble along with Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Kane, And Undertaker to name but a few this event had me of my feet in anticipation and excitement particularly when HHH music hits during the rumble with Austin in the ring awaiting him this was the best planned and delivered rumble the wwe has ever done and will become a classic

A decent yet dissapointing start to the WWE year3
The Royal Rumble 2002 was a decent enough start to the year, with some good action and wrestling. However a lot of the action is predictible and has few surprises, which takes away some of the excitement the Royal Rumble is so well known for.

Match 1 - The Dudley Boys vs. Tazz and Spike (Tag Titles)

A good old school style tag match, with Tazz getting the hot tag and cleaning house. Fast paced wrestling and exciting action. ***

Match 2 - Regal vs. Edge (IC title)

Another nice battle, with innotive counters and moves by both men. Shame about the ending though. ***1/2

Match 3 -Trish vs. Jazz (Womens title)

Pretty shoddy womens bout, with bad selling and some awkward spots, despite good effort. **

Match 4 - Mr McMahon vs. Ric Flair

Sloppy yet thrilling streetfight, with decent buildup and lots of blood. ***3/4

Match 5 - Rock vs. Y2J (WWE title)

Wow, a blazing battle, full of smooth exchanges and thrilling exciting action! More please! ****3/4

Match 6 - Royal Rumble

Lots of dead spots and stupidness hurt an otherwise good match, but last years was a great deal better. ***

Overall, not bad at all, but it had potential to be a cracking event, but did not quite live up to its expections. Shame.

Overall - ***

Its that time again...4
Royal Rumble 2002 was a fairly good start to the year for the WWF, with solid tag team championship, intercontinental and womens (yes!) matches. The civil war between co-owners Ric Flair and Vince McMahon produced a bloody street fight that wasnt actually that bad. Again, Rock and Jericho tore the house down, as they did at No Mercy, Vengeance and numerous Raws and Smackdown!s. The Rumble was entertaining- returns by Goldust, Godfather, Val Venis and Mr Perfect spiced it up and the ending was a classic with you know who winning.
