Second best PPV of 2002
After WrestleMania SummerSlam is the second biggest PPV of the year and so appropriatly in 2002 SummerSlam was the second best PPV after WrestleMania X-8. The main selling point of the PPV is, of course, the in-ring return of Shawn Michaels who participates in his first match since WrestleMania 14 in 1998. A lot of people felt this match wouldn't - or couldn't - live up to people's expectations but Triple H and HBK put on an awesome performance that showcased what both men could do. The match is no-disqualification and this allows for some classic HBK action as we get repeats of some classic Michaels moments including dives off ladders, table-spots etc. Aside from that match, the main event (Brock vs. Rock) is also very good. As a match it is fairly average until the last few minutes where a huge finishing-move reversal spree gets the crowd on their feet. The other matches of the PPV are also good - although none of them are anything spectacular they are all good fun. The PPV itself was let down a bit by not having Hogan wrestle but this DVD makes up for that by including the Hogan/Brock match from the Smackdown! before the PPV. An excellent buy - recommended second to WrestleMania X-8!

Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Kurt Angle
Good fast paced opener, but could have been given a little more time.
Mysterio's entrance was great too.
8.5/10
Ric Flair vs Chris Jericho
This match was decent, but I think Flair was too slow and couldn't keep up with Jericho.
6.5/10
Edge vs Eddie Guerrero (R.I.P)
Better than their match at Unforgiven, an entertaining wrestling match, definetly worth a watch.
8/10
WWE Tag Team Championship
Lance Storm & Christian (c) vs Booker T and Goldust
What can I say? Fairly decent tag match, but I like the ending because that big boot of Test is powerful :P.
6.5/10
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Rob Van Dam vs Chris Benoit (c)
These two are great wrestlers, and Benoit is just excellent. Needless to say great match, don't know why but the IC championship just didn't look right on Benoit.
9/10
Undertaker vs Test
This match was average, and I don't think it was worth UT getting in the ring with Test because UT is talented and quite frankly Test is not. Bit of a stupid storyline if you ask me.
6/10
Non Sanctioned Match
HBK vs HHH
This match was freaking awesome! These two always put on awesome matches and I will always remember this match. Loads of great spots including, HBK using the ladder (he was the innovater of the ladder match) and Hunter using the chair to do some pretty sick moves including a DDT on the chair and a backbreaker! Love the spot where HBK dives of the ropes onto HHH through the table. If your not intrested in any of the other matches at least buy it for this match or buy From the Vault The Shawn Michaels Story it has this match on it aswell.
10/10! Match of the night.
Now onto the main event...
WWE undisputed championship
The Rock (c) vs Brock Lesnar
This match was a great match as well, but its second place compared to the HBK/HHH match. I like watching the Rock anyway but I didnt like him losing it after just a month. Brock Lesnar was a breath of fresh air, and the towards the end I really got into this match. Great spot with The Rock giving Heyman a Rock Bottom through the announce table.
9/10
63.5/80 which makes this a 4 star ppv. Buy this PPV now! Its one of the best of 2002.

WWE SummerSlam 2002!
This is one of my favourite DVD's with loads of action packed matches but some dull ones.
Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio
9/10 slighty short with some great spots.
Ric Flair vs. Chris Jericho
6/10 nothing new here with plenty of dull moments.
Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero
9/10 slighty long with great technical wrestling.
Tag Team Championship
Lance Storm & Christian Champions vs. Booker T & Goldust
7/10 I hate it when WWE goes patriotic but this was an ok match.
Intercontinental Championship
Chris Benoit Champion vs. Rob Van Dam
9/10 Great match.
Undertaker vs. Test
6/10 typical big man match
Non-Sanctioned Match
Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H
10/10 match of the night. Loads of weapons used with some good hardcore spots. Michaels took a sweet sledgehammer shot after the match.
WWE Undisputed Championship
The Rock Champion vs. Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman
9/10 better than what I was expecting.
The extras are great with interviews, promos and matches. A must have DVD and event.
