The end is here. I love that music.4
Armageddon 2002 comes to you live (well, not LIVE) from the Office Depot Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The WWE had a tough act to follow after Survivor Series. The matches were:

1: Fatal 4 Way Elimination Match for the World Tag Team Championships
Chris Jericho and Christian (Champions) VS. Dudley Boyz VS. Booker T and Goldust VS. William Regal and Lance Storm
This was a good opening match. The Dudley Boyz had just re-united, William Regal and Lance Storm at the time were undefeated, Goldust thought he was the weak link in his team and the champions were trying to keep a hold of the titles. 8/10

2: A-Train VS. Edge
Hmmm. Not spectacular, but not the worst match ever. 6/10

3: Eddie Guerrero VS. Chris Benoit
This was a good match, between two former best friends. And two future world champions. 9/10

Dawn Marie shows THE TAPE. That is, until Al Wilson stops it. Bah.

4: Batista w/Ric Flair VS. Kane
Typical big man match. Lots of Ric Flair interference. At least it was kept short. 6/10

5: Triple Threat Match for the Women's Championship
Victoria (Champion) VS. Trish Stratus VS. Jacqueline
This was quite a good women's match. Jacqueline had beaten Victoria on Raw. 8/10

6: WWE Championship
Big Show (Champion)w/Paul Heyman VS. Kurt Angle
Angle asks Brock Lesnar to be in his corner so he can get revenge on Heyman. Two different styles in this match. A good main event between Angle and the Show. 8/10

7: 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
Fall 1: Street Fight
Fall 2: Cage Match
Fall 3 (if necessary): Ladder Match
Shawn Michaels (Champion) VS. Triple H w/Ric Flair
This match continued the rivalry bewteen HHH and HBK. The Street Fight is longer than the rest of the matches. Loads of weapons are used: chairs, trash cans, trash can lids and a 2X4 wrapped in barbed wire. Oh, and Triple H sets it on fire. The next two matches (well, it was pretty obvious they weren't going to miss out the Ladder Match) are shorter, but still good. A good match to end the finall PPV of 2002. 10/10

Armageddon 2002 is a good event. Apart from the A-Train/Edge and Batista/Kane matches, this PPV is worth having.

A Decent Event4
WWE Armageddon 2002 was a good event to end an eventful year in wrestling. It starts with a nice opener featuring the Dudleyz, Regal and Storm and Booker T and Goldust challenging the World Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho and Christian in an elimination 4 way tag match. A riot to start with, however the first 2 eliminations were awful. An excellent finish though and a great start. ****

The next match was a disappointing one as Edge took on A-Train who really had been destroying everyone in his path upto that point. It wasn't bad, but it could have been much better. **

One of the best matches of the night saw Chris Benoit go against Eddie Guerrero. These 2 always have good matches, but this one tops them all, featuring a little interference from Chavo Guerrero. If you like technical, you'll love this. *****

Next up was the special footage shown by Dawn Marie and Al Wilson featuring Al's girl Torrie Wilson. This was a very entertaining segment for all the T&A lovers out there. *****

Next on the agenda was Kane vs. Batista. I am not a fan of either of these men, but Ric Flair made this match more fun. Boring, and it was just there to give Batista a push. *

Victoria defended her Women's title against Jacqueline and Trish Stratus next. This was hard hitting and brutal, but like all women's matches, lacked length and a pointful finish. ***

The WWE title was on the line as Big Show with Paul Heyman defended against no1 contender Kurt Angle. This was a great match, with a lot happening outside the ring as it featured run ins from Brock Lesnar and A-Train. Probably the finest match I've ever seen Big Show involved in. ****1/2

Finally, the match of the night. Triple H tries to win back the World Heavyweight title against HBK Shawn Michaels in a 2 out of 3 falls match. 1st fall = Street fight. 2nd fall = Cage match. 3rd fall if necessary = Ladder match. The Street fight is amazing, featuring spots such as a body press onto a trash can and a barbed wire 2x4 on fire. The Cage match was also great as it featured Ric Flair once again (Flair is so cool. I love Ric Flair). The end is excellent as Michaels makes a dive off the top of the cage through a table. The Ladder match also features a brilliant finish as one of the combatants falls off the ladder though 4 tables. *****

Extras include 4 bonus interviews, and the no1 contender match from Smackdown! including Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle and Edge. Top notch stuff in this match. *****

Overall, a great event with 3 outstanding matches- Benoit - Guerrero, Angle - Show and HBK - HHH. Well recommended.

a fitting way to bid farewell to a great year 4
2002 started off with the rumble and ended with armageddon and in between we were treated to many a fine event, the event prior to this, survivor series was a real high and while that would prove to be a difficult act to follow,i found this event to be highly entertaining.
The event opened with a fatal four way elimination tag team match for the tag team gold, the champs christian and chris jericho went up against the dudley boyz, goldust and booker T and lance storm and william regal, three teams would have to be wliminated before we got to our winner. Two of the four teams went pretty easy if im honest and that left two teams left and they had a great match,it was topsy turvy, snappy and watchable,a good ending to an opening match that very much set the tone for the night.
Edge went one on one with A-train next,A-train has seldom been poor as a big man and here he put on a good show against a crafty and more skilled wrestler in edge, the match was entertaining and the aftermath was savage and highlighted that this event could get extreme perhaps.
Chris benoit and eddie guerrero went up next, these two go way back and they have shared the stage at the highest of levels maintaining a level of quality that few can rival, well maybe not their match at one night stand 2005,anyway,this wasnt their very best match but was sound as a pound, neither man afforded the other two much domination,we had belly to back suplexes and then some,we had two very skilled men who could read the others mind, but something had to give and the ending was justified and few could say that they werent entertained.
Ric flair would serve to be an important feature on this night and he wasnt even wrestling,he was at batistas side, his ppv debut,as he went up against kane, flair made a nuisance of himself and provided a few laughs as he pranced about getting his lips slapped off, this was to all extent and purposes a typical big man match but a blinding finish and a short running time meant that i quite enjoyed this.
A triple threat rules match was up next for the womans title as victori defended her belt against trish and jacquline, this match was mildly eventful and entertaining so fair play.
Kurt angle got his chance at the WWE championship next,he went up against the champion big show, this match was decent but not that great, big show wasnt that impressive to be honest and slugged about the ring, the talk was all about brock lesnar coming down to help out angle so there was a sense that the match was just waiting for that and never dominating in its own right, after all was said and done i guess i was happy but a classic title match this is not.
A two out of three macthes was up next for the world heavyweight championship, the men in this enviroment were the champ shawn michaels and triple H,the first match was a street fight, the second was a steel cage match and the third,if needed, was a ladder match.
Over the years hbk and hunter have had their fair share of epic matches, little seperating them in truth, this match was epic, classic, brutal as sin, entertaining, vicious and all the while watchable, never wasting a chance to stake its claim as a true bona fide classic.
If you want to see all kinds of weapons used then this match will give you that, including a 4 by 4 with barbed wire and set on fire, are you frothing at the mouth, well get this then, you want a vicious steel cage match which flair enters and leaves with his hair a different colour then step right up and a ladder match that doesnt disappoint either then yet again, what are you waiting for.
This was a great way to end the year, very little let me down here,a lovely 4 stars then,a job well done.
