not as good as i hoped but did the job
The king of the ring 2002 was a mixed event with some good matches and some poor ones and a great king of the ring final and the return of the rock but he wasnt in a wrestling match,this was very hyped and rightly so,but you have to wonder if his return was to disguise the fact that something here was far from perfect.
The two king of the ring semi finals started things off,the opening match was good between chris jericho and rob van dam,these two men go way back and they share a good understanding and this match was no easily won,the next semi final was less successful as test went up against brock lesnar,two machines giving little and dragging each other down at the same time but in the end a bit of quality made all the difference.
The cruiserweight championship was up for grabs next as the champ the hurricane went up against jamie noble,much was made of this match but in truth it all got a bit stale too soon,some good moves and a decent level of energy was more or less guaranteed but it couldnt maintain a good level of consistency.
Ric flair fought eddie guerrero next in a good match,flair could work with a speeding bullet like eddie well here,his match with rvd in a later pay per view died due to flairs lack of pace,but here he did well,proving that there are means and ways for experience to knock down pace and aggression,a controversial ending for sure but a good match nonetheless.
The womans title was up next between the champ trish and molly holly,this was fair to midland,nothing more.
Kurt angle went up against hulk hogan in a good match next,hogan had a good night here giving his old and recreating some old magic,his rival angle was still hamming it up wearing a wig and all but fought a great match himself and a surprising ending,very good.
The king of the ring final was next and was almost a squash match which wasnt quite fair on the loser but a semi decent match and a very worthy winner,2002 was a great year for this man.
The WWE undisputed title was up next as the undertaker went up against triple h in a savage enough match with skill and a grinding down mentality,the match was well maintained and interesting and showcased both men very well,again this match featured controversy but this always keeps things interesting,3 stars and thats that then.
