Customer Reviews

Good Wrestlemania but far from Great3
WWE Championship Match
John Cena(C) vs. "HBK" Shawn Michaels:

Great entrances, Lots of cool moves, good length, pretty good crowd and nice build up.
Certainly a great match but can not score higher than this since this is wrestlemania after all. Possibly a 9/10 at a regular ppv but very good effort by both men.

8.25/10

Lumberjill Match for the WWE Women's Championship
Melina vs. Ashley Massaro:

Same old diva stuff. They always give the playboy cover girl a big push wich is fine by me:)You get to see all the divas which is a plus.

6/10

Battle of the Billionaires Hair vs. Hair Match
Bobby Lashley (w/ Donald Trump) vs. Umaga (w/ Mr. McMahon)
Steve Austin as Special Guest Referee:

Entertaining? Yes, but still kinda dull for something that takes place at wrestlemania. Ok match and good ending. Oh, and i loved the barber's chair entrance hillarious.
7.25/10

The ECW Originals (Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, The Sandman & Rob Van Dam) vs. The New Breed (Elijah Burke, Marcus Cor Von, Matt Striker & Kevin Thorn):

Fun to see ecw at wrestlemania. Mediocre action, with exeption from elijah burkes braids flyng all over the place, and the most elevation i have ever seen on a monkey flip by RVD.

6.5/10

World Heavyweight Championship Match
"Animal" Batista(C) vs. "Phenom" The Undertaker:

Great build up and great entrances. A very physical match with both men giving their all. WM Main event quality all the way and good near-falls.
OH MY GOD. This actually exeeded my expectations by miles and if this was the last match on the card as a main-event i would have considered giving the dvd a four out of five. Great match, if not a classic.

9.25/10

United States Championship Match
Chris Benoit(C) vs. MVP:

Easilly could have been a smackdown match, but good counters by both men.

6/10

Kane vs. The Great Khali:

Well.. Was never going to be good, but this was as close to horrible as it gets. Kane tries hard though.

4/10

Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Mr. Kennedy vs. Finlay vs. Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy vs. King Booker vs. CM Punk vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton:

Many great bumps and spots. Jeff hits a crazy legdrop and hornswoggle goes for a fairly uncomftarble ride!
Better than the WM 22 Money in the Bank Ladder Match and nearly as good as the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WM 21.

Disc 3 features the 2007 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in its entirety. And it is a great class that year.

Overall i would recommend it for big wrestling fans! Ther are a ton of extras such as:

Stone Cold announced as Special Guest Referee - RAW - 05/03/07
No Way Out Rematch - RAW - 26/03/07
Bobby Lashley Exposes Mr. McMahon's New Bald Head - RAW - 02/04/07
Batista asks Undertaker for a Rematch - SmackDown! - 06/04/07

Probably best dvd purchase you can make, if you want a wwe ppv from 2007.

A great PPV yet incredibly overhyped3
1. The money in the bank ladder match King Booker, Edge, Finlay, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Randy Orton CM Punk and Mr Kennedy competed in a great match which really made you realize that what you were watching was wrestlemainia. had lots of great moves especially whilst jumping off the ladders. If your a fan of CM punk or edge then this may not be for you as they didn't have too much action in this one. Involved plenty of drama as we have come to expect from these matches. It lasted the longest of any match at Wrestlemaina but never got boring. The end was pretty good but could have been better. 8/10

2.The Great Khali vs Kane
A very poor match.Khali's was horrendous as usual. The match was over quickly.the loser didn't seem to put up much of a challenge and the man i wanted to lose didn't. All in all i hated this match. 3/10

3. Melina vs Ashley in a lumberjill match for the Womens Championship
An average match which was never going to be anything special. The right women won . No real point of the lumberjills as far as the match was concerned. The right women won. 4/10

4.MVP vs Chris Benoit for the United States Championship
A very technical match with submission holds, lots of grounding moves and real wrestling. Unfortunately it wasnt very exciting and was pretty slow.Good but not a wrestlemania worthy match. 6.5/10

5.ECW Originals vs the New Breed
A good match but nowhere near as good as i expected this to be. Considering the fact that this was the single extremists only match at wrestlemania 23 it didnt have enough hardcore moments in. The ending was rubbish and I would have liked to see the other team win. Not bad but certainly not good. 5/10

6.Undertaker vs Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship
A fantastic match which lived up to all expectations and exceeded them. Loads of twists and turns and some fantastic moves. Despite it being a long and tiring match for both Batista and the Undertaker the were both on top form throughout. The 2nd longest match at Wrestlemainia 23, in my opinion the best match on the card and should have been the main event. 9/10

7.Bobby Lashley (w/Donald Trump) vs Umaga (w/Vince McMahon and Armando Alejandro Estrada) (w/Steve Austin as Special Guest Referee) in a Hair vs. Hair match
The main thing to say about this matched is that it was gloriously OVERHYPED. With stone cold steve austin as the guest referee we were really expecting something incredible to happen and in short, it didn't.The match itself wasn't bad in fact it was actually quite good.If it hadn't been so hyped it wouldn't have been such a terrible disapoinment and it would actually have been hailed as a great match. It had lots of twists and turns and to be honest nobody really knew what was going to happen. The ending was quite impressive and seemed to make sense and in my opinion the right team won. Quite a decent match 7/10

8.John Cena vs Shawn Michaels
A superb match which along with the whc match really captured and intesified the electric atmosphere at wrestlemaina 23. A great match with lots of twists and turns with some fantastic moments that had me tearing my hair out. Both wrestlers were very evenly matched however in the end the winner was quite predicatble. This fortunately didn't make the match any less impressive. A great match. 8.5/10

It's WrestleMania...what more needs to be said?5
Regardless of what wrestling promotion you support/have supported in the past, be it WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA or ROH, the law is if you call yourself a true wrestling fan, you watch WrestleMania. It's that simple.

Being the biggest wrestling event of the year/in history, there have been so many historical moments and classic matches that have taken place at WrestleMania, making it a fun-filled event that's always worth paying to see. While admittedly a step down from the previous two events, this pay-per-view has the right number of awesome matches and moments to make this worthy of the name WrestleMania.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Edge vs. CM Punk vs. King Booker vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Mr Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Finlay vs. Randy Orton
Unusual choice for the opening bout but it works brilliantly in getting the crowd all fired up. The number of participants being increased from six to eight succeeds as well. I preferred the MITB matches from WM21 and WM22 but with all the phenomenal talent here on form, and the match filled with all the necessary spots to make a ladder match exciting, the results can only be spectacular. It's just such a shame that the victor's triumph would sadly be rendered obsolete two months later. (9/10)

Kane vs. The Great Khali
Why does Kane keep on being subjected to crap like this? The guy is talented, works hard and should have been given a second run as WWE Champion years ago. Yet he keeps on being buried in stupid programs for no real reason. Khali may have unbelievable size and an incredible aura, but he is hugely limited in what he can do. Kane nonetheless does everything to try and drag a good match. The body slam is very impressive...and that's it. Barely passable match with a pointless aftermath. (5/10)

WWE U.S. Championship Match
Chris Benoit (Champion) vs. MVP
God...it's so hard to watch Chris Benoit matches now. As a wrestler and a performer...I miss him. Trying to put the whole Benoit tragedy at the back of my mind, this is a great technical encounter that is enjoyable to watch. And this match (and the feud itself) really allows MVP's character and skills to shine. Should've been a little bit longer, as it ends rather abruptly, but this being a Benoit match, it gets high marks. (8/10)

World Heavyweight Championship Match
Batista (Champion) vs. The Undertaker
Rumoured to have been the main event, and if I'd have known the match was going to be THIS good, I would have petitioned for this to be on last. I have never seen Batista wrestle this well before and doubt I ever will again. The Undertaker gives perhaps his greatest performance at WrestleMania and the outcome is truly deserved. One of the most surprising matches I've ever seen and a rollercoaster ride of epic proportions. Match of the night and surely a high-ranking contender for match of 2007. (9/10)

ECW Originals vs. The New Breed.
Finally, we get to see Sandman, Sabu and Tommy Dreamer appear at WrestleMania. All the members of the New Breed show that they have talent as well, resulting in what I think is a very-decent 8-man tag. But the biggest problem with this, and the ECW brand itself, is that it isn't extreme rules. Why Vince didn't allow this to be a hardcore bout on WrestleMania of all places, and permit the Originals and the New Breed to really tear the house down is beyond me. Still good, but ECW desperately needs to go back to its roots. (7/10)

Battle of the Billionaires: Hair vs. Hair Match
Bobby Lashley (w/Donald Trump) vs. Umaga (w/Vince McMahon)
Special Guest Referee: Stone Cold Steve Austin
The most hyped match on the card. Both Lashley and Umaga are great wrestlers and show that they have chemistry but they should have been allowed to put on a wrestling match. The interference factor from the outside parties adds to the enjoyment but there's simply too much of it, which detracts some of the quality of the action itself. Nonetheless, an entertaining spectacle that lived up to the hype, with an enjoyable aftermath. (7/10)

WWE Women's Championship Lumberjill Match
Melina (Champion) vs. Ashley
It's times like this where I really miss Trish and Lita. And Jazz and Molly Holly for that matter. Melina is a great heel and one of the best women's wrestlers I've ever seen, but if she was going to be defending the title at WrestleMania, why couldn't she have been allowed to do so against Victoria, Jillian Hall, Mickie James or any other Diva that can actually wrestle? Ashley has trained hard to try and improve her skills but she still has a LONG way to go before she should be put in a situation like this. Poor match with a boring aftermath. Skip it. (3/10)

WWE Championship Match
John Cena (Champion) vs. Shawn Michaels
A match I've been wanting to see for a long, long time. Finally, the Heartbreak Kid is back where he belongs. In the main event at WrestleMania, competing for the title. Even though I still believe the Taker-Batista match should have been last on the card, this is nonetheless an excitingly awesome battle. The Showstopper proves once again why he's Mr WrestleMania, and Cena puts another feather in his cap, gives a great entrance and showcases some excellent technical exchanges and the ability to go with one of the greatest of all time. Classic, and another match-of-the-year contender. (9/10)

This being a WrestleMania 3-disc set, you can expect a mammoth selection of extras, including bonus matches, segments leading to/after WM23, `All Grown Up' vignettes and the entire Hall of Fame 2007 induction ceremony. And the icing on the cake is the film frame from WM3 that comes with it. All of which make up a great DVD package. WrestleMania 23, despite some flaws, is a classic show with everything that makes WrestleMania so special. Buy it now.
