not a night to cherish
WWE-night of champions is an idea that gets the fires burning,all the gold,all title matches on the one night,8 titles would be defended on this night but this meant that some matches would be short and it was up to the powers that be to decide what would be what.
The night started off with the WWE tag team championships being defended,the champions,john morrison and the miz went up against finlay and hornswoggle,lets all wise up here,come on,this idea was stupid,hornswoggle is there to make the kids dance and smile,he has nothing to merit a tag team title chance but hey ho,this match was clumsy,lousy,unbelievable,daft and poor and cluttered with weak moments,one of the worst ever,you want to see shame,then look at morrisons face at times,the man didnt want to be there.
The united states championship was contested next,the champ,matthew hardy went up against chavo,i found this match to be a let down,there wasnt a great pace to it and there most certainly should have been,some of it failed and that was a letdown,the ending was solid but by then the damage was done.
A triple threat for the ECW championship was up next and featured the champ,kane,going up against mark henry and the big show.This was a slap in mouth match,three big men failing to ignite a spark,the crowd werent that fussed as the men failed to shine.
The world tag team championship match featured next as cody rhodes and hardcore holly went up against ted dibiase and his unknown partner,this match was poor,there was a surprise granted but it didnt set the room on fire with fainting shock.The match itself was short and not so sweet.
The intercontiental title was contested next and here we got our first great match of the night,the champ,chris jericho went up against kofi kingston.The match was fast yet technical,skilled yet carefree,everything you could want in truth,certainly memorable.
The WWE womans championship was up next as mickie james went up against katie burchall,this match was far too epic and the crowd died with the match,it started well then just became like so many diva matches,poor,spare a thought though as next year we have another womans title match,the diva title that may well be defended,help me please.
The world heavyweight title was defended next as edge,the champ,went up against batista,i found this match to be classy and skilled with some great moves and a real desire burning thoroughout,in some ways it was the best match of the night.
The main event was next,the WWE champion triple H went up against john cena.The match started well,then lost its way and restored its past glories towards the end,it was a mixed contest and we saw the best and worst of both men at times,not a classic but acceptable.The event as a whole isnt that hot,i was let down by some of the matches,i really expected more,1.5 stars.
