Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review:
In a nutshell:
It’s the game football fans wait all year for and to usher in the next generation EA Sports have given FIFA its biggest revamp in years, changing not just the way it looks but the way it plays in what aims to be the ultimate marriage of realism and fun.

The lowdown:
Every new FIFA game gets its expected improvements in graphics and presentation but this year the success of Pro Evolution Soccer seems to have driven EA to concentrate just as much on the gameplay. As such the game features better passing, crossing and free kicks as well as greatly improved goalkeepers. There’s also a new "finesse" shot if you get the time and space to use it, while every kick is calculated in terms of space, composure and technique so that it’s accuracy is determined by exactly what’s happening on the pitch and not just some random factor. Add in completely new ball physics, more than 510 teams, 27 leagues, 4,000 licensed players and all new international crowd reactions and you’ve got EA’s most concerted attempt yet to make the definitive football game.

Most exciting moment:
As well as all the individual improvements to ball and player control many of the game’s best strikers have their own signatures moves and free kicks, such as Ronaldinho, Frank Lampard and Roberto Carlos. This includes the ability to, quite literally, bend it like Beckham.

Since you ask:
As befits its global reach FIFA 07 has perhaps the most multinational soundtrack ever in video games, with everything from Argentinean rock band Bersuit Vergarabat to Spain’s The Pinker Tones and German group d.o.c.h.! (As well as Britbands such as Muse and The Young Punx.)

The bottom line:
FIFA gets serious in its attempt to out-football Pro Evolution Soccer

New intelligent AI ensures that your 11 men on the pitch make realistic decisions, finding space and passing like professionals. A complete overhaul of the game engine now means that you have to employ real world tactics, make realistic decisions and think like a player to win matches.

FIFA 2007 PSP4
I got my PSP last month and got this as part of a package deal. I always buy Pro Evo for my PS2 and haven't played FIFA for a few years - I would have gone for Pro Evo 6 if I hade the choice but am more than happy with FIFA now.

Really enjoying this game. Its easy play straight away but with a bit of time you can really develop your skills. I think its perfect for the PSP as you can just play a quick game. The selection of teams is brilliant, loads of stadiums, loads of players. The graphics are great. You can select different types of footballs which is cool.

Only two bad things for me are...

1. When you score there is a short delay before the commentator says it's a goal.

2. Some of the music is great, but other tracks are awful and its pretty annoying when you pause a game and the music comes on - though im sure you can switch if off. You can also deselect tracks that you don't want to play and you can select your own from your memory card.

I haven't bothered with the manager mode yet. The extra mini games are good, wall attack and juggling (where you turn your PSP vertically to play).

All in all - good game and work very well on the PSP.

Fifa 07 PSP4
I have always been Po Evo man myself but due to wanting to play friends online I bought Fifa 07 on the Pc and was amazed how much the game had improved. On this basis I then purchased the PSP version and in comparison to Pro Evolution 6 on the PSP this game is amazing! I was very disappointed with Pro Evo 6 as it was a shadow of it's PC conterpart but somehow EA have managed to cram nearly all the PC features of Fifa into the PSP version. Cut scenes come in and go out without a lengthly load time as in PES6 which adds to the atmosphere of the game instead of making you angry it takes so long. Also with all the real player names/kits/logos etc it just looks amazing. Whilst PES6 is possibly a more skillfull game, Fifa07 is a whole lot more fun! With a manager mode included this is all you could wish for from a football game! Amazing!

Its Brilliant5
This game is fantastic. I get lots of fun out of this game. The manager mode is brill. What i really love about this game is the mini games. My mate has got this game on xbox, and he says that the psp version is much better because the mini games are only on the psp version. The graphics are brilliant. on manager mode you can now Control you Team budjet. You can go into debt and get sacked. I also like it at the end of seasons you can change to a different team and manage that team. The downside is when you win a cup in manager mode the trophy is not in your trophy cabinet, you have to win it in tournament mode
