Liteon HD-A760GX
The 760 GX is basically the same as the 740GX. I have had mine for just over 12 months. I write this to hopefully prevent anyone else buying one. It worked OK for 6 months, although the software was very delicate and often required several re-entries of info. It then locked up totally. Liteon tech support suggested a procedural fix, which worked for two weeks before the thing locked up again. I'm now told by the local TV repair firm that liteon do not provide support for it to be serviced locally - units have to be returned to Ireland for service at horrendous expense. Spec is great, and if it worked would be unbeatable at the price. I suppose I got what I paid for!

Hardware problems can be overcome
We've had ours for over a year now, and we've had to send it back twice for repair (contrary to other reviews, I've found the customer support to be pretty good) - first time the whole unit shut down, and second time because the disc reader wasn't recognising blank discs. Both fixed fine with the stuff on the hard drive saved. OK, so the inability to do 2 things at once is a bind, but for the money - and assuming you don't get a dud! - this is a reasonable bit of kit.

Lite-On....Write-off!!!
A word of warning for those who purchase this dvd recorder, it looks quite nice and has loads of features but something sinister is lurking beneath the fancy exterior. Withing 10 mniutes of setting it up (which thanks to the pathetic instruction manul is no easy task)it blew my TV!!!

Yes, the trusty TV Id been using for over 8 years suddenly just died on me. Have to say I didnt heed the warnings of the previous reviews and I paid my price (although I got a refund for the recorder). Stay well clear, its quite obvious Lite-on have serious manufacturing issues.

Finally, beware Argos' trick of sending you this product in replace of the acoustic solutions stuff, its no replacement, trust me.
