Synopsis
A 1997 reunion concert of the quintessential members of Fleetwood Mac (Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Stevie Nicks) to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of their classic, multi-million selling album, "Rumours." Filmed in conjunction with MTV over three nights at a sound stage in Los Angeles, the band performs titles from the album, such as "Don't Stop (Thinking About Tomorrow)," "Gold Dust Woman," "Dreams," and "You Make Loving Fun" as well as such favorites as "Rhiannon," "Say You Love Me," "Sara," "Landslide," and "Over My Head." This was band's first concert appearance with the classic lineup since 1982.

Customer Reviews

Outstanding5
The good old band plays with such joy, humor and enthusiasm. Mick Fleetwood laughs through the intire consert, and watch Lindsey Buckingham, what a guitarplayer, "exploding" in joy and satisfaction when the brass plays along on "Tusk". Even John McVie is ohlalaing on one track. The sound- and picture quality is superb on this production. The only "hit" i missed on this DVD i "Little lies", all the others are here and performed with love.

Even my 16 years old clubmusic digging son has become a Mac fan thanks to this DVD.

The Mac at its Best5
'The Dance' is, quite simply, the 'Rumours' incarnation of Fleetwood Mac at its very best. After years of drink, drugs and acrimonious relations, the classic lineup of this sometimes maligned group reunited in spectacular fashion for this MTV special. What is more, they sound fantastic. The concert's setlist includes a myriad of hits and old favourites, including reworkings of some: Buckingham's acoustic solo 'Big Love' and Christine McVie's new twist on 'Say You Love Me' are particular highlights. There are four 'new' songs, each of which is a worthy addition to the Fleetwood Mac cannon, and a roof-raising rendition of the 1976 Rumours B-Side 'Silver Springs' which proves that Stevie Nicks still has the magic and stage presence she first showed twenty years before. John McVie and Mick Fleetwood show that they are the most consistent and impressive rhythm section in popular music, adding to the impressive, polished two hour affair. Overall, this DVD is a fine showcase for a band who have earned their place in the annals of rock history.

Full of life and colour5
From the start, right through to the end this concert sways, rocks and pumps a fluid of light and sublime sound! Even if I'm lying on the floor, I can feel the marrow in my bones jumping and the nuclei in my cells cavorting to the music. And this concert is on a DVD so I can play in over and over again without wearing it out - the quality stays the same as the day I first played it. I'm really rather glad I bought it. What an impressive band: Lindsey Buckingham must be one of the best guitar players I've heard; Stevie Nicks' voice - sort of smooth, low, going on gravely and isn't she the image of some kind of beautiful, mysterious witch; Mick Fleetwood gurning and thrashing those drums always puts a grin on my face; Christine and John McVie mostly keeping a lower profile - cool and indispensable. At the end of the concert the USC Trojan Marching Band marches onto the stage to join Fleetwood Mac for 'Tusk' and 'Don't Stop' to make a real fun finale. I usually have to go back and listen to several of the numbers again after the last song has finished. This is not a concert to watch and listen to before bed time - not unless you want to stay awake and full of energy for some reason.
