Worthy of Consideration
A very versatile machine, which covers almost all the bases re; recording formats & functions, and for those still with large VHS collections an ideal compromise machine, which fits everything into one space saving unit. The reason I have classified it as four rather than a five star performer, is because the connectivity is not all it might be. Despite the published Technical Data indicating that this machine as RGB in/out on two SCART connections, in reality it has only RGB out on one SCART connection. This ultimately compromises the quality of the input from any external source i.e. Satellite/Freeview boxes, etc. This is a pity, because this is a very proficient machine, which because of the RGB issue results in a recorded picture quality which falls in the fair/good category depending on your source, rather than excellent.

The listed spec is wrong
This is a good bit of kit and I bought mine from Amazon. However, the listed spec above is WRONG. It does NOT come with speakers and is NOT a 5.1 amp.
I bought it thinking that it was a player with amp,sub-woofer and 2 speakers.
YOU DO NOT GET A SUB-WOOFER OR SPEAKERS.
I have emailed amazon with this but the description stays unchanged and they have not yet responded (over 5 weeks ago).

i do not pretend to know alot about electronics but this jvc model is absolutely superb!in the past i have had sony videos and they all had poor playback and recording but with the progressive scan on this jvc it makes even the oldest of vhs tapes seem like new.The best bit of course is the hard drive been able to record and watch what your recording is a god send for me patience is not one of my virtues,the manual is alittle confusing i thought so if your anything like me you will just grab the remote and play and then if you want to look something specific up then have a mooch in the manual.I did alot of research into dvd recorders before i bought this one as it is quite alot of money to part with but trust me you will not be disappointed with this model!
