Synopsis
Picking up where the first left off, the show's second season finds each character in a state of turmoil. Having lost her husband, Bree uses white wine as a tool for coping with her conniving son and psychopath suitor. Meanwhile Gabrielle ponders whether or not to have a baby, Lynette shakes up her marital dynamics by going back to work, and Susan attempts to move on from Mike. The season also adds several new characters to the mix, including new Wisteria Lane resident Betty Applewhite (Alfre Woodard). And as everybody knows, new neighbours bring new mysteries. What, for example, are those strange sounds coming from Betty's basement?

DVD Description
Secrets and truths unfold through the lives of female friends in one suburban neighborhood, after the mysterious suicide of a neighbor.

Customer Reviews

Not just for housewives4
The first season of desperate housewives kept up a good pace as it introduced us to its collection of uptight, spoilt, flustered and funny characters.
From murder to infidelity and dishonesty as the series unfolded it drew you in.
So too with season 2 as it progresses you are drawn to wanting to know what happens next.
The beauty of the show is it's such a simple idea, a gang of middle class curtain twitchers are all friends and discuss what happens to them and their neighbours. Where the scriptwriters get it so right is in the consistantly unexpected storylines and witty observations.
This programme never stales or feels lost for a plot, something interesting is always happening and the main characters, though flawed, are all likeable. It also makes a nice change to have the women as the centre of attention and not being portrayed as idiots. The actors all give good value for money and even during the daftest plots they still manage to convince.
Things dont let up in season 2 and as before the pace quickens towards the end leaving you wanting to see series 3.
Programmes as easily entertaining and amiable as this are rare.
The box set is well presented and disc 7 has a raft of extras.
The picture quality is good, especially for a T.V show and it's nice to see 5.1 surround offered and even though your surround set-up is unlikely to be tested by this it is clear and conversation is distinct from ambient noise.
All in all this is a good show well served by this box set.
If you haven't seen it before then you really should watch season 1 1st as you may get confused. If you have seen the 1st series and enjoyed it then this is not going to disappoint. Buy it and enjoy the further mishaps of the residents of wisteria lane.

Season 2 - Desperate Housewives5
We have only just 'got into' desperate house wives...why did it take us so long.
The program is addictive you just want to keep on watching more and more. The twist at the end of the series just wasn't expected.
Totally recommended.

Funny, heart warming, intriguing... and did I mention funny!5
What more could you want? If anything this was even better than the first season - the stories were stronger, the characters more fully developed and interesting, the humour more cutting and funnier. A real treat. Well, except for the Applewhite plot line - not that great. But the rest? Fantastic.

For anyone who missed it, think of the first season, then add 100% more of everything. For anyone who missed the first season too... well, there's just no explaining some people's tastes is there!!! Buy it. You'll love it!
