Synopsis
The Godfather Considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made, Francis Ford Coppola`s epic masterpiece features Oscar winner Marlon Brando as the head of the Corleone family. Coppola paints a chilling portrait of a Sicilian family`s rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from a father to a son who was previously uninvolved in the business. Godfather Part ll The Godfather Part II is one of the rare breed of cinematic sequels which is as good as, and perhaps better than, the original. Al Pacino heads the star cast as Michael Corleone, heir to the criminal empire established by his Mafioso father, the late Don Corleone.
The time is mid-1940s: Michael is now in charge of all gambling activities in Nevada, making certain that any and all political or mob enemies are quickly bought off, compromised, or disposed of. Throughout the film, Michael`s travails are paralleled with the early experiences of his father, played in flashbacks by Robert De Niro. The Godfather lll In the final installment of the Godfather Trilogy, an aging Don Michael Corleone seeks to legitimize his crime family`s interests and remove himself from the violent underworld.
Now in his sixties, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime, and finding a suitable successor. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael`s hopes of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence.

godfather..subtitles!!
Ignore the 1 star review saying there is no subtitles o nthe italian parts, you have to enable subtitle number 8 of 8 to get this if you want italian to english subtitles (without the english dialoge subtitled), The best trilogy ever, wtahced 100 times now, a must for any movie lover
They made me an offer I couldn't refuse!
I had never seen the Gofather series until i bought it. Freinds had told me I had to see it and eventually I decided to go for it. I am glad I did, this is quite simply a set of films not to be missed.
GF P1: My personal favourite- Bando shines and plays the part of the king on the thone wonderfully. The first film depicts the empire, who is part of it, the enemies and how to deal with them. There are more plot twists than a country road. Al Pacino is superb as the son who relucantly takes on the mantel of the new 'Don Corleone'. One slight problem is that the italian is not subtitled for some reason... dones't detract though as you cna pick up what they are saying.
GF P2: Acclaimed as the masterpiece and one of the only sequals to be betther than the original. The film shows how the original Godfather took his place- Vito Corleone's life in sicily to New York. While also showing how Pacino (Michael Corleone) takes on the mantel of the new Godfather. (This time the italian is subtitled)
GF P3: I read somewhere that if this were a stand alone film it would be superb however it comes after P 1 and 2. It is a very good movie depicting how Pacino's character has tried to legitamise his business only to be dragged back to the underworld and must find a successor to the throne. A superb film a tragedy as well as a gangster movie.
These are masterpieces, Brando is super in part 1, Pacino masterfull in all 3 and the cast in all films superb stars like Talia Shire (Mr's Rocky Balboa) Di Nero, Diane Keaton, Duvall.... the list is endless.
Buy these films, it's an offer you can't refuse!
The best films ever made !
There is no doubt in my mind that this is truly the greatest movie of all time. Im going to start with the first film. Based on the exellent novel "The Godfather" by Mario Puzo, this film goes behind the scenes of all the violence, while at the same time showing plenty. Marlon Brando was absoloutley perfect for the part and he played Vito Corleone brilliantly. In one of his first major films Al Pacino was also very good. He had a tough part because he had to change from being an innocent "college boy" to being one of the most violent men in America. The screenplay and cast were all exellent.
At the first viewing of the second one I didin't like it at all. However, after watching it a few times I began to enjoy the movie. The first film glorified gansters and Michael Corleone, the second one certainly didn't. But this movie isn't just about Michael and the Corleone family, it also takes a look back to when Vito was starting the family. Young Vito Corleone was played by Robert De Niro exellently. A very good movie and I would recommend it highly to any fans of the first one.
The third part of this trilogy is by far the worst. Although this movie did see very strong performances from Al Pacino, Diane Keaton and Andy Garcia it didn't live up to my expectatiopns. In this film Michael takes in Sonny's violent son, Vincent. A sad movie at times like in the scene where Michael starts shouting out Fredo's name or outside the opera house at the end. A poor film compared to the others but still a good one to watch. Amazing value box set - buy it now !
