First class purchase
The Slingshot 100AW is without a doubt the best camera bag bought, and have had many different models over the past... My Nikon D40 is resting nicely in the slingshot and very quick at hand should the occasion present itself... the bag is well manufactured... 100% for this purchase!!!
Slingshot 300- excellent day-trip bag
I wasn't convinced that a single diagonal strap would be comfortable, but after a little adjusting it is surprising how well the system works. I bought the 300 at a guess, as the magazines don't give a real idea of the size of the various models. I have seen the 100 and it was far too small for my toys, so opted for the larger of the collection. It will take my Sony Alpha 700 and six lenses with ease. And the bag is wide enough to take the camera with my 500 mm lens attached - ideal for transporting all of the equipment as hand-luggage on flights as I can then get all of my lenses into one bag.
The bag is very well constructed, with thick padding and high-quality stitching throughout. Wearing it for several hours has not been a problem, although for long days out there is not enogh space to carry much more than a bottle of water and a small snack. For more serious days out hiking I will probably stick to my Orion Trekker backpack as the additional compartment is larger, although the camera is not as accessible as it is with the Slingshot system.
Although not waterproof it stands up perfectly well to occasional showers without using the additional cover concealed in the base. This slip-on cover is attached to the bottom of the bag, which means you won't lose it. However it does mean you may have to re-store it wet when no longer required as it can't be detached to allow it to dry out.
As it is the largest of the Slingshot bags the temptation of course is to load as much as possible into it, and as it can hold so much this can become quite heavy.
Comfy but a bit small
This really is a well designed bag and is very comfortable. Access via the side of the bag works very well and probably the best feature. There are places to store memory cards, filters, and other small things too.
However, if you own a slightly larger dSLR like the Canon 40D then this bag will be too small for you if you want to carry more than one lense with you. Yes you can fit the 40D inside, with a reasonable size lenses attached, but you'll have to remove some of the padding and rearrange the internals so that there is almost no space for another lense. You might just fit a small lense in there. For this reason, I give this a 4 star rating. If it were just a few cm bigger it'd be a 5 star bag. I've returned mine and intend to purchase one of the larger size slingshots.
