Customer Reviews
Surprisingly good
The 1 star rating from R Bell should be ignored in fact I would give it 5+ stars if it was available. This TV is my first venture into LCD and is beyond my expectations, in fact I was watching an HD transmission on a Samsung LCD and could not see any improvement over the Sony.
Clarity, colours, ease of use, setup, and no delay between turn on and use of remote control, in fact it found my Sony PVR and I can programme recording sessions while the PVR is turned off.
Screen size is just right for a living room, unless you live in a mansion, and the overall size is not in any way intrusive.
Amazon and City Link managed to deliver to me within 41 hours, from time of order 10.00 pm on Tuesday night to time of delivery 3.00 pm on Thursday and I did not choose next day delivery - by the way I live in N. Ireland about 25 miles west of Belfast - so they deserve a few stars as well.
A marvellous television
Had my set for a week now and can only agree with all the other positive comments and would only add that both the manual and remote control unit are very user friendly. The only negative point I have discovered is that there is no button on the remote for subtitles - you have to go through the menu which can be a bit of a faff if the phone rings and you still want to keep up with what is being said.
One aspect which other reviewers have not picked up on is that there is a setting which enables you to switch off the screen when listening to radio channels (or using the tv speakers to play back CDs from a connected DVD player) This is great because not only does it mean you don't have the distraction of a tv picture in the room, but it also cuts down on electricity consumption - which is quite high on LCD tvs. Another point which I think is very good is the clarity of speech on tv programmes - the backgound music being just that - in the background.
Using the vast array of sound and visual options I have achieved excellent results with this set. (Well worth investing in a DVD player with an HDMI connection and upscaling facility, but I am not really convinced about the merits of HD discs as such). Taken with the very smart dark grey finish of the tv it all adds up to the mystery of why this is being sold as budget priced product rather than a premium priced one. But this is for Sony to worry about us rather than us- we can just sit back and enjoy!
Top quality gadget
I have had this TV for 3 months now and it is great - it comes at a bargain price and has all the performance benchmarks you would expect with a Sony. Where is really excels is when you use an HDMI cable with a PS3 or connect a PC/Laptop through the monitor input - the picture quality is stunning. A throughly good purchase for anyone after an LCD telly.
