Manufacturer's Description
Video on demand from YouTube
For the first time ever, LG brings the first range of LG Blu-ray players which allow you to access over 2.5 billion videos from all over the world. The user interface is extremely easy to use. Simply select the YouTube icon and instantly you are presented with a host of videos. You can then view the most recent content that has been uploaded, the most viewed content or even the most rated content.
If there is a particular piece of content you are looking for, then you use the search feature. This very much like how you would search for topic on the Internet. Simply select the search icon and immediately you are presented with the alphabet. As you start to type what you are looking for using the navigation keys on the remote control, a short list of what you might be looking for appears. This is a great feature as it reduces the need to keep selecting further characters.
If you are keen to see what videos entertain another nation, you can select from a whole host of countries. This is also just a simple selection from one of the tabs at the top of screen.
Once you’ve found the video you would like to watch, you have the choice to see it in full screen or if you prefer, in a window alongside a description of text. When the video has finished playing, you will be presented with a number of related videos which you can navigate using the arrow controls on the remote control.
If you are an avid fan of YouTube then you may have a YouTube account. With a YouTube account using a computer or laptop, you can tag your favourite videos to playback at a later date or share with others. With LG Blu-ray you can access your account and see your favourite videos in an instant. This is a great way to share your favourite video clips with family and friends.
LG Blu-ray not only plays back CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs but also opens the doors to content from YouTube. For those who like to watch videos on the web but want to sit in the comfort of the living room, then LG Blu-ray brings the best of both worlds with incredible ease.
The ultimate media player
With LG Blu-ray, the picture quality is far more improved over Standard Definition (SD) images which come from digital TV or DVD. To understand this better, the illustration below shows how many lines create a SD picture. In this case, SD is made up of just 576 lines which are interlaced together.

Interlacing is when the odd number lines are presented on the screen followed by the even numbered lines and so the odd and even lines are never on the screen at the same time. This happens so fast that you can see the picture flickering from the edge of your vision.
The opposite of interlacing is progressive. Progressive images are those where the odd and even numbered lines are presented on the screen at the same time. The advantage of this is that there is no flickering of the image.
When a Blu-ray disc is played, the image is vastly improved over SD as the Blu-ray has 1080 lines. If your TV is HD Ready, you will be able to experience the image in 1080I (1080 lines which are Interlaced). However if you have a full HD TV, you will be able to experience the picture in 1080P (1080 lines which are progressive), so no flickering.
All LG Blu-ray players can playback DVDs and by playing back a DVD on a LG Blu-ray player, you will improve the picture quality from 576 lines to 1080 lines. However this is not to say that the picture detail will be the same as a Blu-ray film.
In addition to playing back DVD and Blu-ray discs, the LG Blu-ray player can also playback the latest file format MKV; MKV is a file format that is in wide use online. Its popularity has grown as it allows users to download HD videos from the Internet to a disc or USB storage device and only use a fraction of the space that a Blu-ray disc movie would use. The picture quality can be just as good as that of a Blu-ray movie in HD1080.
The other video file format that can be played is DivX which is similar to MKV however this is in SD.
If you’re into music then LG Blu-ray will allow you to playback WMA (Windows Media Audio) files as well as MP3 music. These can played via a CD, DVD, Blu-ray disc or even a USB storage device.
Whilst music and videos can be played, LG Blu-ray also takes your pictures to the next level by allowing you to share them on your big screen. Simply plug in a compatible camera, USB storage device or even a picture CD and playback the photos. This works with all JPEG file types which you can put together in your very own slide show.

Perfect
I had a Philips DVD which had the usb support and Divx support. What I was looking for was a Blu-ray at a reasonable price that offered me these options also.
The LG BD370 DVD/Blu-ray player, does all that and some.....!!!
It took me only a couple of minuets to hook it up to the internet and download firmware updates. Also had a look at the YouTube option. It also allows you to down load bonus stuff relating to the Blu-Ray movie your watching if available. Don't really use YouTube that much so I really am not the best person to comment on that side of it.
But the Divx and usb support are first class. Also being able to view pictures and play music straight off the memory stick is very good.
I have a Samsung full HD 40" TV so it shows any glitches up very quickly. The Philips DVD did have issues when playing some Divx movies if there was really fast action or high foliage and would stutter. The LG had no issues with this at all. The up scaling worked perfectly also. The start time, from boot to playing a Blu-Ray movie was also extremely fast, some 15 - 20 seconds.
So if your looking for a stylish, good quality Blu-Ray with a lot of extra's for under £200 this is the one for you.
Simply brilliant!
Spent a long time choosing between this and the panasonic/sony equivelents. Was a little concerned as i associate LG as a cheaper brand, but in my opinion this is a premium product and blows the others out of the water!
On samsung LED series 6 TV it looks AMAZING! the disks load very quickly and picture quality is fantastic. DVD upscaling works well too. I've not used the live features yet - but it has a fantastic trick up its sleeve in the form of the codec player - plug in a usb or cd/dvd with your bit torrent files on and it brings them all up in a library to choose from - excellent! It has played everything i have thrown at it so far - and may just save me the money I was going to spend on popcorn hour or cyclone!
Unit looks nice - remote is a bit 'cheap' looking but all works fine.
I would be careful if ordering from hughes direct. they sent the unit with no packaging and just an address label on the box - clear for all to see what it is, and the box was tatty on arrival. I was impressed it was still in my office when i went to get it!
Could not ask more from a player at twice this price!
Looks good plays well & a good price
I bought this to match my LG HDTV it is one of the best looking players on the market & plays everything well & not to long to bootup, Even had a decent picture on my old tube tv.
The internet link up is very easy just plugged it in then it prompted me for updates etc. The you tube function works well I will look at stuff on my TV from youtube instead of my laptop from now on.
Plays anything I have chucked in it after changing to region 0.
The remote could be better but for the money its fine.
Great player for the price & looks
Edited to say the USB is very usefull too good for looking at pic's or any other movies you might have etc
