Customer Reviews
Clunky, but good value
As a budget cassette deck this does the job; the sound it produces is as you would expect from Sony and it records well in either automatic or manual mode.
This, though, is a functional rather than top of the range hi-fi deck: If you want to record on both decks and have a better range of adjustments the next model up ought to be considered.
It does just what I want, and no more - the ability to record from radio, CD or disc and, occassionally, to dub from tape to tape.
My only reasons for not giving 5 stars was because the Dolby switch appears, and feels, rather flimsy (although, it must be said, it works perfectly well), and because of the clunky noise when the tape reverses from one side to the other.
cassette Decks
A great product at a reasonable price. As an entry level deck it is superb. Does everything I want; records from any source, turntable, CD player or tuner, as well as recording (dubbing) from deck A to B, and all via standard 'phono leads (supplied).
Make sure you read the addendum to the manual as there is a different regime for dubbing, NOT involving the Record button, to recording everything else.
OK, so you can't record on deck A but, seriously, who would need to record on two decks at the same time, unless you are a real pro., in which case you need to be looking at a higher price range.
No, this unit does everything that you need for a home HI-FI seperate and gives a great sound.
Not a good cassette deck for me
This unit is not a good cassette deck i had to send it back many times and they did not fix it. The first problem is it would freeze up when you would try and do lots of rewinding or fast forwarding. Next problem is on one i had the head actually snap off in the first deck. It also wrecked one tape. I have a sony 300ES cassette deck that makes this one look like a piece of junk.
