Excellent Sony tuner hifi separate
I am really pleased with this tuner, bought as a replacement for a non-DAB version. Apart from its good looks (mine is the silver version), it was easy to set up and tune in, and my fears that the aerial cables would not be up to the job have so far proved groundless, for both DAB and FM - though I rarely use it for FM, let alone AM (though the sound reception of that is also very good). It does not worry me having to get up to turn it off on the front panel (helps the environment too). An excellent buy.
An excellent tuner
An excellent tuner. I live in a variable signal area for digital and, although I get drop out/in with digital TV (even with a good quality Humax freeview box), I never get it with this tuner. This is because I discarded the supplied aerials (the accessories that come with even expensive equipment are always poor quality)and bought a proper DAB radio aerial. These are not expensive and a tuner as good as this deserves no less.I recommend the All-For-One SV9310 aerial - small, inobtrusive yet very effective.
Excellent tuner, with 1 flaw
I haven't actually bought one of these myself, but very nearly did.
I was in the market for a full size "HIFI separate" DAB tuner, and the Sony STSDB900 has had very good reviews in the HIFI press.
I was convinced enough to buy one, but after having a look at one in a shop, I was very disappointed to find that you cannot turn the unit on/off (standby) from the remote. All other functions appear to be on the remote except on/off. The only way to turn it on/off is from the front panel. That was enough to actually put me off buying it.
I haven't seen any reviews yet, but I'm going to be keen to see how good the Denon TU1800 is, because it is similarly priced, has the same features and has remote on/off!
I hope Sony learns from this silly feature oversight.
