It's a monster!

Includes all the extra stuff added in Platinum (over Diamond/Pearl), but most importantly it has the walkthrough (short 93 point version and detailed 100+ page version) and Pokedex (Sinnoh and National) - sold as a separate volume for Diamond/Pearl.

All this information is presented clearly and logically over 550 pages but it makes the guide a monster! It's the biggest guide I've seen - more like a mail order catalogue. Guess that accounts for the price...

Perfect Accompaniment
This guide is the perfect companion to a game that can be as deep and engaging as Pokémon. Granted, not much is different in Platinum than in Diamond and Pearl, but there have been significant redirections in the story of Pokémon Platinum that some people may need to refer to a guide for. The Pokémon data is both Regional and National and is very extensive. Undoubtedly the most useful part of this guide is the bulk that makes up the rest of the book after the Walkthrough. You only get maximum enjoyment out of this game once you've become Champion of the Pokémon League - the ensuing activities add at least an extra 20 hours to the gameplay. You will need this guide if you want to squeeze every last drop out of the game, and for that I can't reccommend more highly.

I don't normally buy a guide when I get the game but I'm glad I did this time. There are little things that I didn't know I could do in Pearl/Diamond or is new to this game which I wouldn't have known about till I got this.
The only problem I have with it is that it will only talk about a town once. For example if you need to come back to Twinleaf town later in the game it will say it there when ever you first go to Twinleaf town, and not later on in the guide when you need to come back. That's something I don't like as I forgot what the guide said back there. But this I would recommend it.
