Manufacturer's Description
Spectrobes, will not only take players on a captivating action-filled intergalactic journey, but will also introduce innovative new gameplay features designed specifically for the platform. Spectrobes includes a unique code input card system, local wireless gameplay, Nintendo Wi-Fi downloadable content and a compatible online community.
For the first time on the Nintendo DS, players can use collectible trading cards to unlock additional content within the game using the touch screen. In addition, players can download content via a Wi-Fi connection; play together locally using a wireless connection; and take advantage of online community features to extend the Spectrobes experience beyond the game.
The game features two junior Planetary Patrol officers named Rallen and Jeena who must save the galaxy by awakening, training and collecting prehistoric creatures called Spectrobes. These creatures hold the key to defeating merciless enemies known as the Krawl. Spectrobes fully utilizes aspects of the Nintendo DS, such as its revolutionary touch screen and microphone, through creative gameplay that includes excavating and awakening dormant creatures with the stylus and voice commands.
Included in each Spectrobes game is a pack of four translucent lenticular code input cards, perfect for collecting and trading. Once players unlock the special ability in the game, they can fit a code input card over the Nintendo DS touch screen and use the stylus to consecutively tap numerical holes in the cards, unlocking new content, which includes creatures and minerals. Along with inclusion in game packages, additional trading cards will be available after the game's release.
Once awakened and trained, Spectrobes are powerful creatures that can be used by Rallen to battle against the Krawl or other players and their creatures locally via wireless gameplay. Players can enter a one-on-one battle with a friend or participate in an organised tournament for up to 15 players and a host.
Players can also earn the ability to download content such as videos, creatures, custom parts and minerals through a Wi-Fi connection. Also, once connected to the Internet, the Nintendo DS will generate a personal planetary patrol badge number that can be synchronized to each player's profile page on the Spectrobes web site. Once connected to their game results, players' profiles will include information about their Spectrobes creatures, armour and weapons. In addition, a leader board on the web site will track the top scores from several special sequence battles in the game, allowing players to show their success to a global audience.

Brilliant, hours of gameplay, but Pokemon Diamond will win
Hey everyone,
This is a brilliant game and i think suitable for all ages. Im a 19 year old who loves pokemon and now really likes spectrobes. The graphics have a great anime feel to them and the storys pretty good. The battle scenes are great especially when you pull of a special move. Looking after the fossils after youve awakened them is fun and its great to see them evolve.
I think its a great idea how you need to collect different cubes to unlock different things in the game ( i cant wait till i find the one that lets me use the input cards and the one that lets me change the terrain of the incubators which is where you keep your creatures and where you feed them). Another good thing is that there isnt tons and tons of dialouge to read through which is sometimes a pain.
The awakening of the fossils is great fun and uses the touch screen brilliantly. You have to dig using your stylus whilst being very careful not to destroy the fossil and if you dont harm the fossil at all then you may get extra items with the fossils called custom parts which you can then use to change the look of your evolved creatures which is fun in itself and gives hours of gameplay. Also if theres dust covering the fossil from the digging you can just blow onto your ds and the dust is blown away (WOW). The one not bad thing but just awkward thing is the voice recognition for awakening the fossils. It can sometimes take a while for you to get it write but its worth it.
Another great idea is the collectable trading cards which you just place over the bottom screen of the ds and use the stylus to tap through the small holes in the cards in the wright order (the holes are numbered) and then you get a new monster or item. Yeah its a way to get more money out of us but its a great idea to combine cards with the game plus the cards do look pretty good.
This is definiteley worth a look but for me pokemon still wins but this is only a tiny bit behind so if you liked pokemon my guess is you should like this.
spectrobes
i am 10 years old and spectrobes is the best game i have got, you don't need a playstation 3 when you have got this. the game is detailed and you don't have to read for 1 hour when the text is up so it is good. i would rate it 10 out of ten but the maximum is 5 so its 5 out of 5. one word for this game is BRILLIANT
Good all round entertainment
Having a seven year old son finding ds games he enjoys is hard work, this game though ticks all the boxes, easy to use, lots of fun value, easy for him to understand, he has really enjoyed digging for fossils and feeding his baby dragons, he loves the battles, even his 12 year old brother and 15 year old sister enjoy playing the game.
I have to say it looks more fun than Pokemon, a game that has never taken off in our house, and its more intresting than Nintendogs!!!
We also have the trading cards that you put onto the screen to play the game in different modes, an interesting feature and something to trade in the playground.
