Amazon.co.uk Review
For better or worse, David Mamet's hit play Sexual Perversity in Chicago is watered down into this romantic comedy about a couple (played by Rob Lowe and Demi Moore) who get together and then fall apart due to Lowe's character's inability to commit. Jim Belushi is on hand as the gratuitously swinish best friend who looks at women as meat, and Elizabeth Perkins is entertainingly arch as Moore's gal pal and Belushi's nemesis. There is nothing about this 1986 film by Edward Zwick (co-creator of TV's thirtysomething and director of Glory and Courage Under Fire) that is at all reminiscent of Mamet, but that doesn't make it bad or dull. While one can feel the script straining to fill in gaps where chunks of the original play have disappeared, Zwick often successfully tells the story without words at all, relying on the actors to convey pure emotion. Lowe is good, and the then-willowy Moore's understated performance reminds one of the actress she might have been before she became a spectacle. --Tom Keogh

Synopsis
Danny (Rob Lowe) and Debbie (Demi Moore) are in love--on a strictly casual basis--in this sexy comedy. Based on David Mamet's stage play SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO, director Edward Zwick's ABOUT LAST NIGHT... is a funny, provocative, and often insightful look at young romance in the 1980s. At a neighborhood bar, Danny, a swinging single, meets Debbie, a bright young advertising executive who happens to be sleeping with her boss. Sparks fly, and the pair go home together to enjoy what they think is going to be a meaningless night of sex, preferring casual sex to commitment. Danny and Debbie both enjoy their own freedom, work, and friendships. Debbie relies on the support of her roommate, Joan (Elizabeth Perkins in her film debut), a cynical kindergarten teacher, while Danny is constantly exchanging dirty stories and work anecdotes with his coworker and best friend, Bernie (James Belushi). Although they desire to keep their independence, Danny and Debbie begin spending more and more time with each other and finally end up moving in together, quickly becoming domesticated in spite of their fears. However, their whirlwind romance gets the better of them and, although they have strong feelings for one another, they break up. Emotionally devastated, they both attempt to move on while realizing that they may have had something more important than their supposed freedom. This in-depth look at the difficulties of modern relationships is insightful and sexy, featuring palpable chemistry between the two seductive stars.

An fun, cheeky film with some outstanding acting displayed4
'About last night . . . ' is a mix of sport, love and friendship; a combination which, obviously, leads to complication. Pretty boy Danny (Rob Lowe) and looker Debbie (Demi Moore) have a brief meeting in a Chicago hangout which leads to a deply passionate night which both are willing to forget. But neither can forget or resist the magnetic attraction between them. This unlikely relationship develops and Debbie moves in with Dan leaving her faithful flatmate stranded. Can the strength of their love adapt these free spirits to coupledom? Or will the pressure of feelings and friends prove too much? Superb acting from Lowe and Moore changes 'About last night . . .' from an amusing film with a passable plot to an unforgettable movie which should not be missed. So return to the jazzy 80s; fluffy hair, bold patterns, all night parties and . . . 'About last night . . .'

EXCELLENT MOVIE ABOUT THR TRIALS OF LIVING TOGETHER4
Excellent movie about relationships starring Rob Lowe and Demi Moore.Set in the late 80's,this movie follows the ups and downs of true love.James Belushi is very funny as Rob Lowes male buddy.Elizabeth Perkins is hilarious as Demi Moores neurotic room-mate.A must see for all fans of the 80's brat pack movie.Contains strong language and some sex scenes.

80's Vehicle For Two Brat Packers...5
Maybe, but not quite.

This was made just after the peak of brat pack mania and it shows. Both stars have matured (acting wise) and they shine.

Frankly neither have looked so gorgeous since either, James Belushi steals the show however with his hilarious but truly sexist ramblings. The constant conflict with Elizabeth Perkins and Mr Belushi are also thoroughly watchable.

All in all a very worthy adult comedy about love and regret.
