Synopsis
This blend of live-action and animation was director Ralph Bakshi's answer to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT. The story follows two humans who encounter Cool World--a parallel universe where cartoons actually exist--and tangle with the seductive Holli Would (Kim Basinger), an ambitious animated bombshell determined to escape into three-dimensional reality. Gabriel Byrne plays Jack Deebs, the comic book artist who created and then is seduced by Holli; and Brad Pitt plays Detective Frank Harris, the Cool World cop out to make sure humans don't have sex with cartoon characters, since that act can rupture the fabric between the two universes. Of course the rupturing occurs, and cartoon misfits of all shapes and sizes invade the city of Las Vegas. With a thumping techno score that includes tracks from Moby and David Bowie and such goofy touches as Holli singing "Let's Make Love" with Frank Sinatra Jr., COOL WORLD is definitely a freaky place to visit.

Cool Movie4
Ralph Bakshi's half-live-action-half-animated 'Cool World' is a much maligned film, and (I think) unfairly so. Whilst lacking the polish of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cool World is instead darker in tone, and far more anarchic. Whilst the plot may sometimes be incidental, the designs are often stunning, particularly the cityscapes of Cool World and it's maniacal, axe-wielding inhabitants. Not least however, the animated Kim Basinger character 'Holli Would' is a knockout. Add to this Gabriel Byrne and Brad Pitt, and a truly crazy finale, I say ignore the critics and make up your own mind.

Cool World, Cool Cast, Cool Cartoon!!!5
This is a fantasic movie! When I first saw this Cartoon I was hooked! Watching it makes you (disturbingly) want to be in Cool World, with the voluptuous vixen Holly Would (Kim Basinger), the hard-boiled detective (Brad Pitt) and the cartoonist, Jack Deebs, who is convinced that he created the Cool World (Gabriel Byrne). This movie is a fast moving roller-coaster of a movie which has a great soundtrack to give the movie that extra edge! The graphics seem some what jurassic compared to the SFX 3D catoons we have these days, despite this the story has a great kick which is supported by a great cast of 'Noids (humans) and Doodles (cartoons). I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves cartoons, Brad Pitt or just a great laugh!
