Product Description

The third title in the "15-Minute" series, this practical and easy-to-use book reveals how to fit the popular stress-relieving art of Tai Chi into a busy Western lifestyle. Tai Chi is becoming increasingly popular in the West and is the ideal form of exercise for a busy lifestyle, as it can be practised alone for short periods of time and has many healing and stress-relieving benefits. In this text, Tai Chi Master John Ding, the sixth generation of the Yang style Tai Chi Chuan - the most widely-practised style - lays out an easy-to-follow plan that will bring the rewards of Tai Chi into even the busiest person's life. The book includes: an overview of Tai Chi's history and its relevance in the modern world; the health benefits of Tai Chi; how to fit Tai Chi into your day; breathing and relaxing; the importance of posture; ten step-by-step, and 15-minute routines that are suitable for beginners and address different health problems; energy in daily life and how to take care of yourself; how to bring the principals of Tai Chi into your daily life; and finding the right teacher for you.

Customer Reviews

Easy to follow5
An excellent manual on the Tai Chi short form. The main section is split up into ten individual lessons which take the student through the form as well as qi gong exercises. Each lesson picks up from the previous one so by the end of the ten lessons you will know the complete form from beginning to end. The beginning of the book has a good section covering health issues, stance and posture testing to ensure accuracy of the form thoughout and a brief history of the Yang family. The end of the book has a section on bringing the form and the concepts behind Tai Chi into your daily life.

All in all a good read for anyone interested in Tai Chi and it's benefits to our daily lives. Especially recommended for those who don't have much spare time as each lesson only takes 15 minutes each day.

Misleading1
The book suggests that you can learn taiji and gain its great benefits from just copying the pictures. Come on! Thats just plain ridiculous.
