Average customer review:Product Description
Play Blackjack Like the Pros is the requisite introduction to the modern game of blackjack, including high and low stakes casino, shoe games (several decks shuffled together), online, and tournaments. Blackwood begins with the basic rules of play and then moves on to teach his proven card-counting method, broken-down into three levels: novice, recreational, and professional. He also covers camouflaging techniques (it's perfectly legal to count cards, but if the house catches you they will kick you out), money management, and team play. Blackwood includes many stories of his and other professionals' triumphs at the tables and keeps the highly technical language that bogs down most gaming books to an absolute minimum. Play Blackjack Like the Pros is written in the style of Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros using easy-to-understand lessons that all levels of players can quickly benefit from.

The Ace of Spades of Blackjack Books
Kevin Blackwood is an enigma ! Plays blackjack as a profession and then writes a classic book like this, let me know when he turns his hand to fiction, as it will be a best seller.
The book is aimed at any level and of player and he balances the learning curve like a true blackjack professor, covering every conceivable topic, basing much of the prose on his 30+ years of making casino bosses cry into their gold plated cereal bowls.
The book covers history, basic strategy, casino policies, the hi lo system, differences in advanced systems, Hi Opt 2(Mr Blackwood's own), camoflage, blackjack around the world, playing the darkside, team play and proffesional play.
My only criticism of the book is the lack of european trips he has made and therefore reflects on his knowledge and interpretation of the european game, but then if you want to play serious blackjack, you have to go to the United States (or asia) anyway and i took this as a .
Mr Blackwood focuses on what he knows and uses and this is where the book stands out, he doesn't try to cover every conceivable system thinly, but blows open the system that he uses and all its finer points and intricacies and ultimately, this is what makes this book stand out above all others I have read.
Excellent title, honestly written
The book is an excellent guide to playing blackjack at a level which suits you. If you want to take it up as a hobby and enjoy a small return with some key basics, it's covered. If you are after pursuing blackjack as a career, then this too gives you the information you need.
This guide is not self-contained and does provide a series of references to other titles, web sites and resources. If you want to know a lot of the 'why' type information, then it's either in the book or pointed to elsewhere.
The style is very readable and the author comes across as someone who is going to be honest in his answers. He does emphasise the basics and explains things clearly. There are no gimmicks or stunts here.
