Product Description

In the Tokyo suburbs four women work the draining graveyard shift at a boxed-lunch factory. Burdened with chores and heavy debts and isolated from husbands and children, they all secretly dream of a way out of their dead-end lives.

A young mother among them finally cracks and strangles her philandering, gambling husband, then confesses her crime to Masako, the closest of her colleagues. For reasons of her own, Masako agrees to assist her friend and seeks the help of the other co-workers to dismember and dispose of the body. The body parts are discovered, the police start asking questions, but the women have far more dangerous enemies -a yakuza connected loan shark who discovers their secret and has a business proposition, and a ruthless nightclub owner the police are convinced is guilty of the murder. He has lost everything as a result of their crime and he is out for revenge.

OUT is a psychologically taut and unflinching foray into the darkest recesses of the human soul, an unsettling reminder that the desperate desire for freedom can make the most ordinary person do the unimaginable.

Great book4
I got this cos it was on sale at amazon and it was fantastic.
Very different than i usually read and easy to follow.
Not a must-read but was good all the same.

Amazing story! I want to read more!5
I'm not usually one for horror stories...actually, I don't read very many books at all. I went against the 'never judge a book by it's cover' rule, which is precisly the reason I bought this book in the first place. As I tend to read in small amounts at I time, I was expecting it to last me months before I got through the 520 pages, but I bought it Friday afternoon and by Sunday afternoon, I'd read every page. Thus I've ended up on Amazon; to write a review and to buy more by this amazing author.

One thing I enjoyed is that you get to know each character so well, it focuses on mant aspects of their life; their feelings, jobs, past, house, belongings, friends, fears and secret lust. You see so many sides of the characters.

Though, in my opinion, the story is fairly slow paced, this is definately not negative. The book goes into so much exciting, interesting detail that even the more laid back parts of the story made me unable to put the book down. The whole story left me with mixed emotions and it was quite easy to feel sorry for characters you would not expect to synpathise with in a murder story.

I would reccomend this book to anyone who enjoys exciting stories, as long as they don't mind the rather sickening plot & gorey details (which, in my opinion, made the book far more interesting).
