Product Description

Unafraid of a challenge, Lois Pryce began the kind of adventure most of us could only ever dream of. She put on her sparkly crash helmet, armed herself with maps and a baffling array of visas, and got on her bike. Destination: Cape Town - and the small matter of tackling the Sahara, war-torn Angola and the Congo Basin along the way - this feisty independent woman's grand trek through the Dark Continent of Africa is the definitive motorcycling adventure. Colourful and hilarious, "Red Tape and White Knuckles" is an action-packed tale about following your dreams that will have you packing your bags and jetting off into the sunset on your own adventure before you know it.

About the Author
Torn between the career paths of two illustrious relatives, Max Born, the Nobel Prize Winner in Physics and his granddaughter, Olivia Newton-John, Lois Pryce abandoned her interest in Quantum Theory at the age of 16, left school and spent the next couple of years as a carrot picker, painter and decorator and failing an audition as a kiss-o-gram before bowing to the inevitable and going into rock 'n roll. After various underpaid jobs in record shops and as a product manager in the Beeb, she decided to jack it all in and ride her trail bike from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. Her on-line diary of her journey became a cult hit and led to her first book, Lois on the Loose. When not on her bike she is at home on her houseboat with husband Austin.

Lois let loose again!5
If you read this book you will feel like you've travelled every mile of the journey to South Africa with Lois. She has that knack of blending the humour of her experiences with the downright frightening. The story is told with the highs and the lows, warts and all. Watch out if you ever meet Lois because you could end up in her next book. She is a dab hand at summming people up and not slow to make her opinions about people known! As well as the descriptions of the countries she travels though, what made this book for me was the way she describes the characters she meets on the way. The sheer determination and positive attitude of this woman is an inspiration. Buy it, read it and, if you can, get on your bike and get out of here! (I recommend you also read "Lois on the loose", her first book)

Brilliant !5
Having read 'Lois on the Loose' I was eager for more from this brave and funny young woman and wasnt disapointed ! Lois shares her amazing journey through desert, mud ,minefields and scary encounters with her usual lightheartedness although you know that it must have been really tough going! You are an inspiration Lois !

Here we go again Lois.5
I have just finished this book and feel absolutely exhausted and yet quite exhilarated. The journey Lois took me on down through the Africa was a real insight into this developing continent, Trying desperately to find their place in the global world. Constantly fighting the harsh weather and riding conditions, Lois introduces the reader to a plethora of fascinating and stead fast people; `there is no place for Pre-conceived ideas of how people will behave based on their living conditions'. I constantly found myself say out loud "Oh my god lois" but with her grit and extraordinary determination she battles through the many difficult situations. This is a great read and one you will not what to put down.
