Easy to follow, common sense diet.5
I decided to try out this book after gaining 2 and a half stones over several years.Having never dieted before, I wasn't sure how to go about it, but didn't want to crash diet or begin a faddy, unhealthy diet.
I ordered this book in January and it has been invaluable. It sets out the principles of the GI hip and thigh diet - low fat, low calories, high GI eating, and is very easy to follow. It explains the pitfalls of crash dieting and also explains the importance of exercise in losing weight. While not following the recipes in the book, the principles behind the eating plan seem sound and are not difficult to follow - with a bit of willpower.
I do feel there is some over-emphasis in the book on marketing her other products, such as her portion pots.I did order some and to be honest have never used them - it is easier to use scales and a calorie count book. I feel that sometimes the book is marketing these tools and not focusing on other ways to count calories and weigh and measure.
It also has a strong emphasis on following the recipes in the book - not easy when you are cooking for three, one of which is a disabled child on a weight-gain diet and a husband with an active job.
However, despite these criticisms I would say that the idea behind the diet is worth following and the book worth a read.
Finally, I wish the book would give more guidance about what to do after reaching your target weight - calorific intakes are suggested for different stages of weight loss, and indeed weight and ages of individuals - however, there is no real guidance about keeping it off, which would be useful too.
All in all, a useful book which has been by my side throughout my diet....

HOW EASY IS THIS!5
I have been on this diet plan for 5 days now and have lost a staggering 10lbs and my husband (who only has 1 stone to lose) has lost 6 lbs! The meals are quick and easy and I haven't felt hungry once. The family eats all of the meals and the kids haven't complained one bit. The weekly shopping list makes things easy and if you have to buy a pack of something it all gets used in that week (unless advised to freeze some of it).
Worth while buy to kick start any diet.

not worth the wait1
Following Rosemary Conley over the last twenty years since her first Hip and Thigh diet came out, I waited excitedly for this new addition. Only I was very disppointed. The recipes are boring and not as good as the first book and she also seems to be selling her portion pots in every recipe. I think that her first Hip and Thigh Diet book was the best book she wrote and think this is by far the worst.
