Product Description

The world is an exciting and confusing place for Jeremy Clarkson - a man who can find the overgrown schoolboy in us all. In "The World According to Clarkson", one of the country's funniest comic writers has free reign to expose absurdity, celebrate eccentricity and entertain richly in the process. And the net is cast wide: from the chronic unsuitablity of men to look after children for long periods or as operators of 'white goods', Nimbyism, cricket and PlayStations, to astronomy, David Beckham, 70's rock, the demise of Concorde, the burden of an Eton education and the shocking failure of Tom Clancy to make it on to the Booker shortlist, "The World According to Clarkson" is a hilarious snapshot of the life in the 21st century that will have readers wincing with embarrassed recognition and crying with laughter. It's not about the cars!

About the Author
Jeremy Clarkson made his name presenting a poky motoring programme on BBC2 called Top Gear. He left to forge a career in other directions but made a complete hash of everything and ended up back on Top Gear again. He lives with his wife, Francie, and three children in Oxfordshire. Despite this he has a clean driving licence.

Customer Reviews

Entertaining stuff, good for toilet reading 4
This isn't so much a laugh out loud funny book but more the kind where you can appreciate some of his silly, OTT views. Clarkson has a gift for phrases and while a lot of it is sneering, it is enjoyable sneering from someone who doesn't take himself too seriously.

This is best delved into while having a meditative dump.

A very funny book!5
The world according to Clarkson is a very funny book and would make ideal reading on a long haul flight but not if it was a night flight because you would probably be flung into the luggage compartment for disturbing the other passengers, by laughing too much. I couldn't put it down and laughed all the way through. If he decides to become a vegetarian and changes his opinion on foxes I'll definitely vote for him in the next election .

Verry Witty5
A good collection of Clarkson's newspaper articles covering a wide range of subjects.

My particular favourite is him waiting up all night, shotgun in hand determined to kill the fox that has killed his daughter's chicken (no really). Drunk and with very little idea of what he's doing the consequences (and subsequant barracking from his wife) is hilarious.
