A Must Have5
We all love this book in our family. It has a really well judged mix of funny and more serious poems, long and short and for a wide range of ages. Our children are 4 and 6 and we've been reading from it for the last couple of years (at least) and I can imagine they will still be reading from it themselves for quite a few years to come. I would say up to age 11, so it's good value for money. I'm about to buy it as a leaving present for my son's nursery. Poetry rarely seems to be read to the children there, so I hope it will inspire them!

100 Best Poems for Children (Puffin Poetry)

This is an excellent book - my seven year old granddaughter enjoyed reading it, but younger children will definitely need an adult 'sitting-in' to help with some of the words - some poems are very easy and aimed at the real young ones, whereas others are 'full-blown' classics that they might need some help with - but overall, as long as you are prepared to give a little time and assistance, it is a really good book which we can recommend most highly! present for 8 yr old4
Although a paperback this a good quality edition and made an appropriate confirmation present for my 8 yr old grand-daughter.

I didn't look at it in detail myself but she has enjoyed reading the poems; her father has read some of them with her and says the book is a great success.

I think 8 is about the right age but that there is enough variety there to provide pleasure for some years
