About the Author
Charlie Higson is a well-known writer of screenplays and adult thriller novels. He's also a performer, co-creator of The Fast Show, and can currently be seen on BBC in Swiss Toni. Recently, people have begun to question whether this the whole truth - or whether, in fact, it's an elaborate cover for a far more dangerous, secret career. Silverfin was his first book for young readers.
Customer Reviews
Better than silver fin but predictable
Charlie boy did a better job with this, although once you have read the first 10 pages you will know the ending.
I dont think these will ever be films, Its old hat and boring. But better than silverfin so 2 stars
Quite appalling editing
The story line was good and exciting and struck a nice balance between gore and good story. However, the editing in the copy that I've got was quite bad. I have the paperback edition and one hopes that someone at the publishers has read the manuscript and sorted it out. Sadly this doesn't seem to be the case. If we are trying to encourage children to read then an example need to be set, and unfortunately let down badly by the editing, this isn't it.
A great second book
This book is all about James Bond as a child. James goes to Eton and loves action and excitement. He goes to Danger Society who meet on the school roof. In this book, it is all action and adventure as James gets chained into a place full of deadly mosquitoes, nearly falls off a tower block and rescues a kidnapped girl. If you like the Anthony Horowitz's Alex Rider books you'll most definitely love these as well.
