Classic literature for children5
My 7 year old and 8 year old sons loved this book so much (and so did I) that it turned from a bedtime story to an afternoon, morning, and any-time-of-day read. We gobbled our way through it and then continued to read the rest in the series. This book has filled the hole in our lives that was left when we realised we'd read all the Roald Dahl books and they weren't old enough for Philip Pullman. It is the story of an unfortunate boy who - through determination and resourcefulness - manages to overcome an overwhelmingly powerful, mean and bizarre foe. I won't give any details away, except to say that the events are extraordinary, tense but when they start to get too frightening, Ogilvy uses humour to soften his young readers' anxiety. I cannot believe these stories are so little known, stories this good deserve shouting about.

Ogilvy - the new star of children's fiction5
I think it's a benifit that allchildren can reap from - the publishing of Measle and the Wrathmonk.
This was a Christmas present to me and I wasn't able to put it down from the moment I got it.
MATW is about an orphan boy named Measle Stubbs who lives with his uncle, but somethings not quite right about his uncle. He is as pale as death and has horrible gelled down hair. Tramplebone also has the ability to make people dissapear - never to be seen again. He treats Measle horribly - no new clothes and lots of chores to do.
His uncle, Basil Tramplebone, has a huge model train set up in his attic... with very detailled models of people that look so real. Measle plays a trick on Basil... but will he regret it as his life turns upside down as a punishment?

A must for the reluctant reader!!5
After years of trying to get my dyslexic son interested in books and reading, I discovered the existence of Measle (I saw Ian Ogilvy talking about it on After they Were Famous) the brief description given caught my attention and I decided to buy a copy for my son. He could not put it down! He has gone on to read all 5 of the Measle books and has enjoyed every word. I just wish that there were more!!!!! I can't recommend these books highly enough. Here's to the next adventure.
