Great
This book covered all the basic topics and information that I needed as a teacher to inform my pupils about Russia. The style of writing was clear, concise and meaningful. The brief historical content captured the essence of the important dates and facts. This is the second of Ruth Jenkins books that I have read and I look forward to her next publication.

This book is about modern Russia. It is rather criticism than introduction.
The history is written on 3 pages, and it covers the next events: war with Japan, Civil war, revolution, Stalin regime, the end of USSR, war in Chechnya.
The book is not completely negative, some positive changes are underlined. I also can not say that the critics are unfair.
But it would not suit you if your purpose is to share a good memory of your motherland with you friends and the friends of your children.
