Design to make your eyes hurt5
If you remember that orange sunflower wallpaper from the 70s, green crimpolene flares and those huge lapels, then this is the book for you. Actually even if you don't, buy this book, you can just feel smug that it was nothing to do with you.

It journeys through the horrors of 70s interior design in a hilarious and irreverant fashion. Subjects include entryways, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and dining. All accompanied by the g(l)ory of photos in full technicolour that will make your eyes hurt. They really will make your eyes hurt!

Buy this book, laugh out loud but don't forget your sunglasses!

Lileks does it again5
Interior Desecrations - it was part of James Lileks' website, and now it's a book. (And it's back on the website again, too!)

Lileks is THE god of humour based on popular culture, and here he turns his eye to interior decoration of the 1970s. If you're old enough to remember the horror, I don't need to say more. If not, then take it from me (and Lileks), it was not a period of good taste.

All the photos in this book are taken from real books and magazines about how to decorate your home. Somebody, somewhere, thought this stuff looked good. And even that it looked good together. Keep this fact firmly in mind while reading.

Buy it. Buy it now. Let's face it, you're here, so you already love James Lileks and the things he does. Support his work, and get your own private chunk of what he does best.
